SSS Medical 85-2308899 | Government Grant Application

SSS Medical | Application Preview

SSS Medical is seeking government grants to support its startup, specifically for initial equipment and inventory. The business aims to establish a local repair and recovery service for lead garments used by healthcare workers, with plans to partner with 50-100 hospitals. The goal is to handle approximately 2,000 recoveries in the first year, scaling up to 5,000 by year five and growing from three employees to ten.

The need for funding is underscored by a rising demand for lead garments, which hospitals are purchasing in increasing quantities. While some companies produce new lead garments and may occasionally offer recovery services, SSS Medical will specialize in restoring these garments to a 'like new' condition, significantly reducing costs for hospitals. This service addresses common issues like damaged pockets and Velcro, providing a cost-effective solution that can lead to substantial savings over time.

In terms of competition, SSS Medical identifies Infab Corporation, Aadco Medical, and Lite Tech (Xenolite) as major players, noting that their focus lies mainly on selling new aprons rather than on recovery services. By positioning itself as a dedicated recovery service—something currently lacking in the US market—SSS Medical aims to fill a niche that can benefit both healthcare providers and the bottom line.

  • Business Plan

I will look to start this repair/recovery business locally with 50-100 hospitals and doing about 2000 recoveries per year. Slowly increase each year so I am doing about 5000 recoveries at the end of year 5. I will go from 3 employees in year 1 to about 10 by year 5. Today hospitals are buying more new lead garment for healthcare workers than ever before. Companies making these lead garments do repairing but not recovering. A recovery is when we would take a lead garment and make it look brand new by giving it new fabric, new stitching, new velcro, new pocket, new embroidery but keeping the lead (core material). It's as if they bought a new apron but with big savings. I will help many departments in a hospital that need recovery due to a ripped pocket, bad Velcro, rip in fabric or for any other infection control issue. This will save hospitals noticeable amount of money per recovery. Saving would add up big as they do more recoveries.

  • Self Identified Competition

Infab Corporation, Aadco Medical and Lite Tech aka Xenolite. All these 3 companies primarily sell new aprons and do not recovery aprons. Al though they may recovery on a case by case situation or with the request from a department but it's not thing they do everyday. In fact, they mention nothing about recoveries on their sites. I will start a new business that no other company does as their primary business. No other company in the US has the recovery business as they model.
