Allen Chapel AME 59-2138621 | Government Grant Application

Allen Chapel AME | Application Preview

Allen Chapel AME is seeking government grants to enhance its housing facility aimed at supporting individuals facing homelessness, domestic violence, and substance abuse challenges. The proposed funding would be used for remodeling the existing structure, upgrading the kitchen, adding a laundry room, and improving common areas and residents' living conditions. Plans include establishing a training facility complete with a computer lab for job preparation and skills development, alongside programs promoting self-sufficiency.

The organization aims to acquire adjacent property to build additional efficiency apartments, enhancing its capacity to help residents, especially single mothers and domestic violence survivors. With a focus on long-term outcomes, residents will be encouraged to save a portion of their income to support their journey towards independence. The program will also tackle issues like alcohol and substance abuse, as well as HIV/AIDS prevention.

The justification for funding centers on the direct positive impact on the growing populations facing homelessness and substance abuse in Daytona Beach. By fostering professional and personal growth, the initiative aims to guide residents towards sustainable housing and self-sufficiency.

Unlike other facilities that concentrate on immediate needs, Allen Chapel AME plans to serve as a model transitional facility, prioritizing long-term solutions and mandatory participation in substance abuse and mental health programs to enhance residents' chances of success.

Upon obtaining the financial resources the church will obtain the property adjacent to the facility to build 3-5 small efficiency apartments. We currently have 8 bedrooms, small kitchen, small laundry room, dining room, dayroom, and living room. Residents with an income component will be required to save a percentage to aid their growth to self-sufficiency. Currently, we will also expand our capabilities to support single mothers and Domestic Violence victims. Our program will integrate Alcohol and substance abuse resistance as well as HIV/Aids prevention and treatment. We will coordinate our efforts with the Daytona Beach and Florida. Your investment will directly impact the personal and professional growth of the rapidly increasing Homeless and alcohol/Substance abuse population in Daytona Beach. Our program will strategically steer residents to housing and ultimately long-term re-housing and self-sufficiency. Further, it will create a process to train residents to sustain themselves and contribute positively to society at large.

  • Self Identified Competition

We will be the model Homeless Transition facility in the Daytona Beach area. Our competitors are the economy, homelessness, domestic violence, and alcohol/drug abuse. Other organizations and facilities focus on the short-term needs which are important BUT lack the vision to capitalize on the opportunity to tactically position the at-risk population to long term self-sufficiency. There will also be a mandatory Substance and Alcohol Abuse and Mental Health participation component.
