Seasons Counseling & Consulting, LLC | Application Preview
Seasons Counseling & Consulting, LLC is applying for government grants to support various professional development and operational needs. The funding breakdown includes:
- $1300 for an intensive in-person certification course for Activity Therapy.
- $1400 for attending the annual AEE Conference, which covers a pre-conference for adventure therapy professionals, main conference fees, and associated travel expenses.
- $500 for a two-day in-person Wilderness First Aid training.
- $1300 for EMDR certification training.
- $500 for website domain and SEO advertising costs.
Founded a year ago, Seasons Counseling has developed a sustainable client base, primarily focusing on anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. The owner aims to specialize in evidence-based experiential therapies, particularly Adventure Therapy and Ecotherapy, as research shows their effectiveness. The goal is to eventually obtain a supervisor license designation and collaborate with other clinicians in these specialized areas.
The request for funding is underscored by the growing demand for mental health services in the post-pandemic landscape. The proposed intervention methods are evidence-based and proven to aid in trauma processing and emotion regulation. Additionally, networking opportunities at the annual conference are critical for expanding knowledge and partnerships. The owner’s personal experiences with these therapeutic methods enhance their passion and credibility in this field.
While there are many counseling practices in the region, few specialize in Adventure Therapy and Ecotherapy, resulting in minimal competition. Seasons Counseling's unique approach offers a competitive advantage, as these services are not widely available to individual clients.

Business Plan
I started my practice one year ago and have established a sustainable caseload of clients. My goal is to continue focusing on anxiety/depression, grief, and trauma and to begin to specialize in evidence-based experiential approaches, specifically Adventure Therapy and Ecotherapy. Current research is demonstrating the effectiveness of these treatment modalities, and there are very limited options available in this area. In time, I hope to complete the necessary training to gain my supervisor license designation and attract and partner with more clinicians who want to specialize in these areas. There is a high demand for mental health services, especially as we move forward out of the pandemic. Adventure Therapy, Ecotherapy, and EMDR are effective and evidence-based interventions and are shown to be very effective in helping clients process trauma and gain skills for emotion regulation. Because there are few others specializing in these methods, networking at the annual conference is extremely beneficial. On a personal note, these methods have helped me heal from my own traumatic experiences, and I have a deep passion for sharing them with others.
-
Self Identified Competition
Although there are many counseling practices in the area, they do not specialize in these methods. Therefore, there is little competition at this time. Only a handful of clinicians in Central Ohio use Adventure Therapy and Ecotherapy with clients. Those who do work mainly for larger organizations such as the Buckeye Ranch, so these services are not available for individual clients not affiliated with those programs.
