Motiv8tor | Application Preview
Motiv8tor is seeking government grants amounting to $83,000 to support the startup costs of its business, which focuses on renting electronic surfboards on Galveston Beaches. The funding will cover lease payments, working capital, furniture and equipment (FF&E), insurance, registrations, and unforeseen costs.
The business, led by Jimmy Miranda with nine years of operational management experience, aims for rapid expansion in its first three years. Miranda plans to target beachgoers and build relationships with local resorts to increase client referrals. After establishing a presence, the plan includes extending operations to additional coastal areas north and south of Galveston County.
Motiv8tor’s niche rental service has no direct local competition, albeit substitutes are available. The existing competitors generally require longer rental durations, making it difficult for them to attract beachgoers directly. In contrast, Motiv8tor’s lightweight electronic surfboards allow for immediate access to consumers on the beach, catering to a large number of potential customers each week.
The competitive edge lies in the operational model that allows rentals in 30-minute increments, making water sports accessible for both individual users and corporate event planners. The target demographics include individuals with a household income above $35,000 and event planners looking for beach event equipment. With a strong foundation and clear marketing strategies, the application emphasizes potential profitability and the unique market position of Motiv8tor.

Business Plan
Jimmy Miranda expects that the business will aggressively expand during the first three years of operation due to the niche product for the area. Jimmy Miranda intends to implement marketing campaigns that will effectively target individuals that frequent beaches within Galveston Beaches as well as developing ongoing relationships with Galveston based resorts that will refer clients to Motiv8tor as well as obtaining multiple spots on the long section of beach located in front of large popular hotels and popular beaches as well as wider open bodies of water in East and West Beach. After the first three years of this goal is obtained, Jimmy Miranda will expand to other city beaches north and south of Galveston County.
