THE SAFE BOX LLC | Application Preview
THE SAFE BOX LLC is seeking government grants to support a strategic pivot from retail to entertainment by opening two new venues. The first venue will be an indoor Go-Cart track, set to open by October 1st, 2020, located in the same mall as the existing retail shop. The second venue, an indoor Nerf Shooting Arena, is expected to open by November 1st, 2020, with a lease nearly finalized.
The rationale for this shift stems from over 26 years in retail, during which the business achieved significant revenue, peaking at $3.6 million with three stores in 2008. However, due to the impact of the mortgage crisis and the rise of online shopping with companies like Amazon, sales have declined, leading to the consolidation of stores. The decision to transition into the entertainment sector aims to rejuvenate the business.
In terms of competition, the primary contenders identified are Chuck E. Cheese, Dave & Busters, and smaller Hawaii-based video game businesses. However, THE SAFE BOX LLC believes it holds a competitive edge by being the first to introduce both the indoor Go-Cart track and the Nerf Shooting Arena in Hawaii, positioning itself uniquely in the local market. A signed lease already exists for the Go-Cart venue, and they are close to securing a lease for the Nerf arena.

Business Plan
I am pivoting my business model away from Retail and moving to Entertainment. I am opening 2 Entertainment venues in the next 3 months. My 1st venue will be in indoor Go-Cart Track, which I will open in the same mall as my Retail shop. I should have this open by October 1st, 2020. My 2nd venue will be in indoor Nerf Shooting Arena. I should have this open by November 1st, 2020. I have been in retail for 26 years and have always found the hottest products. In 2008, I had 3 retail shop grossing $3,600,000. After the mortgage crisis and Amazon taking over retail, I have slowly lost Sales, so I started to consolidate my stores. I am down to my last store and see my Retail Sales continue to fall. I decided at the end of last year, to try to pivot out of Retail and into Entertainment.

Self Identified Competition
My 3 top competitors are: 1.) Chuck E. Cheese, 2.) Dave & Busters, 3.) Smaller Hawaii Game Video Game Businesses. In both of the ventures I am opening, I have no direct competition. I am first to market with both of these ideas in Hawaii. There are similar business on the Mainland, but nothing here in Hawaii yet. I have a signed lease for the indoor Go-Cart track and am very close to having a lease for the indoor Nerf Shooting Arena.
