BROKEN YEOMAN 88-2266720 | Government Grant Application

BROKEN YEOMAN | Application Preview

The grant application from BROKEN YEOMAN outlines the need for funding to enhance the business's operations and support the creation of a shared art space for disabled veterans. The requested funding will be used for several key purposes:

1. Establishing a proper workspace, including essential equipment like cutting and sewing tables, shelving, and storage solutions. 2. Acquiring necessary tools such as fabric sheers, an industrial sewing machine, and rotary cutting tools. 3. Purchasing shipping materials and tools, including an industrial printer, label maker, inventory software, shipping subscription services, and high-quality shipping boxes. 4. Updating display products for events, with investments in tables, peg board displays, a POS system, and professional signage. 5. Offering higher-quality fabrics for special orders to justify increased retail pricing. 6. Expanding the product line to include a wider range of hair accessories beyond just hair ties. 7. Covering registration fees for larger events, which can range from $500 to $2,000. 8. Hiring an accountant and other professional services. 9. Providing a wage for the owner.

The business plan emphasizes transforming BROKEN YEOMAN from a handmade fabric hair tie venture into a supportive space for disabled veterans that promotes art as a therapeutic outlet. The founder shares a personal journey of healing through creativity, highlighting a mission to destigmatize mental health and military service struggles.

In terms of competition, BROKEN YEOMAN faces challenges from big box stores, salons, and other fabric artists. However, the unique competitive edge lies in the founder's personal story and passion, which adds depth and authenticity to the brand. The application argues that this unique perspective and dedication will foster loyal customer relationships and ensure the success of the upcoming shared art space.

  • Business Plan

I plan to take the Broken Yeoman name from handmade fabric hair ties to a shared art space for disabled veterans. I am Broken Yeoman. Through years of PTSD treatment from a service-related incident, I found that the most effective therapy is art. Broken Yeoman started as a creative and healthy outlet that just so happened to take off while in Cosmetology school. I received a positive response and demand of my product and decided to put all my time and energy into building the brand. Broken Yeoman is more than the nostalgia of a scrunchie, but an invitation to open conversations about the stigmas of addiction and mental health conditions, as well as the unspoken woes of military service. Broken Yeoman believes in the "attraction not promotion" model. This slow, but loyal growth will make the grand opening of a shared art-space for disabled veterans, like myself, successful.

  • Self Identified Competition

Big Box Stores Salons Other fabric artists Me. I understand that what I make can be duplicated- but I cannot. It is my story, my experience that make Broken Yeoman different. This is my life's passion- purpose.
