Sweet Fleur | Application Preview
Sweet Fleur is seeking government grants to enhance their business by transitioning contractors to employees, purchasing bulk supplies, and promoting their education program focused on floral-infused desserts. They are collaborating with the Denver Botanic Gardens to create a cooking program that highlights the use of edible flowers in plant-based meals, which will also serve as a marketing tool for their upcoming subscription service. This service will deliver floral desserts and recipes monthly, starting in October.
The grant funding will primarily support the production of professional cooking videos and advertising campaigns aimed at growing their subscription base. Additionally, Sweet Fleur is exploring partnerships with established flower subscription services for cross-promotion. The business sees significant growth potential but needs funding to scale operations effectively.
The owner emphasizes her commitment to supporting women seeking experience in the baking industry, as well as the eco-friendly nature of their products. While demand for their unique floral desserts has surged, supply chain limitations have hindered their ability to meet customer needs. Funding would allow them to secure bulk materials, reduce staff hours, and avoid layoffs, ensuring job security for their team.
Sweet Fleur differentiates itself in a unique niche—there are currently no other U.S. businesses that incorporate edible flowers into all their baked goods. The company's competitive advantages include being women-owned and operated, their use of eco-friendly packaging, and their educational initiatives surrounding edible flowers. With the requested financial support, Sweet Fleur aims to thrive and continue pursuing their mission of creativity, nourishment, and community connection.

Business Plan
We are currently working with Denver Botanic Gardens on an education program (cooking with flowers/digital videos on how incorporate edible flowers into plant-based meals). We will advertise our subscription service through those videos, and then in October, we are launching a subscription service through our site that will allow people to get floral deserts and recipes delivered monthly to their home. A lot of this funding will be used to create professional video how to's for cooking with flowers, and then we will use some of the funding to create ad campaigns to capture monthly subscriptions. We are also looking to partner with an already established flower subscription-based business in order to cross promote our services. The potential for growth in this business is undeniable, we just need a little help to get going. I am a small business owner, who supports job placement for women who are looking to gain experience in the baking industry. We only create plant-based desserts, and we use eco-friendly packaging. Because we are in such a niche market (using flowers in everything we make), we have had high demand for our desserts, but are unable to buy the bulk we need at this time. We have also had to cut our staffs' hours tremendously since COVID, but are certain that with funding we can offer more work to our lovely ladies, as well as help bring an amazing product to our customers. We are hard-working, and just need a little help in order to continue our business, and move into the next level of growth. Everything we do is done purely out of love and the desire to bring creativity and connection to other women who have a love for beauty and nourishment. This loan will not only give our floral confectionary a chance to survive, but it will also keep our girls secure without having to apply for unemployment. We are proud of our business, and the causes we support (animal sanctuaries, conservation efforts), and with this funding, it will make it possible for us to thrive, and keep creating.

Self Identified Competition
There are not currently any other businesses in the US that incorporate edible flowers into everything they bake. We have claimed a rare niche space, and because of that, we are already in high demand. We are fully women owned and operated, incorporate edible flowers into everything we make, and use eco-friendly packaging. We also have an educational program where we speak with schools, and garden centers on the flavor profile, curative properties, and the uses of edible flowers.
