Evolved Mushrooms | Application Preview
Evolved Mushrooms is applying for government grants to advance their business in the health and wellness industry. Their plan involves establishing a physical location to facilitate workshops, create digital content, and expand their supplement production. Over the next five years, they aim to acquire a brick-and-mortar facility, enhance their online and in-person retail presence, and broaden educational outreach in mental health, nutrition, and personal development through the lens of mycology, particularly focusing on functional mushrooms.
The founders possess a background in public health, which fuels their mission to improve community wellness and self-reliance. They emphasize collaboration with other mycology businesses rather than direct competition, believing that supporting each other is beneficial for marketing and overall growth.
Evolved Mushrooms differentiates itself by producing all its products in-house, ensuring high quality by using organic and responsibly sourced ingredients. Their commitment to staying informed with current scientific research sets them apart from competitors who may not prioritize ingredient quality. In addition to product sales, they aim to provide education and wholesale options, fostering multiple income streams that reduce risks and enhance community support.

The next phase of development with our business seeks to align with other leaders within the health and wellness industry to support local communities with holistic education, tools of support and self-reliance. Through establishing ourselves in a brick and mortar facility we will be able to host new workshops and create digital content while simultaneously expanding our supplement production.

Business Plan
The development of the next five years of our business will focus primarily on acquiring a brick and mortar, expanding our wholesale and retail clientele both online and in person, while simultaneously expanding our educational outreach, skill-training, collaboration. Having a facility would enable us to not only create products, but offer an educational space that we may grow online and in person. We are individuals with a background in pubic health and seek to support the wellness of our communities. Through our training we see a growing need to support the education of our community, specifically within the areas of mental health, nutrition, personal development and chronic health. We do so through the lens of Mycology, the study of mushrooms. Many communities are growing in enthusiasm for the study of fungi and finding novel solutions within this field to support their own health and wellbeing. We focus on functional mushrooms, such as Reishi, Cordyceps, Lion's Mane, Chaga and Turkey Tail as opposed to psychedelic mushrooms, which are currently being explored as well by other organizations. Our mission is to encourage the wellness of our community through supporting their self-resilience. We also formulated our business model with multiple streams of income. This is helpful when looking at risk factors. We have already seen success in each arena of our business and are excited and confident to grow.

Self Identified Competition
We do have competitors, but because the market is so new, we primarily look to help support each of the other growing mycology businesses through collaboration. We have found this strategy helpful in our marketing strategy. A few of the leaders in the industry are Four Sigmatic, Host Defense and Mycologos. We are unique to other similar businesses for many reasons. Unlike a majority of mushroom companies, we create all of our own products. Many of other other businesses simply purchase and resell products. We follow the most up-to-date science to ensure that our process is well-informed and effective. Other manufacturers use less than ideal ingredients in their products that are currently being criticized within the nutrition community. Because we produce at small scale, we can afford to focus on quality. We make sure each ingredient is organic and sourced reliably. We are also becoming deeply imbedded within the emerging mycology culture here in the United States and are hoping to continue to offer leadership. We also offer education and wholesale in tandem with our products, which I believe makes us a bit ahead of the curve. These various streams of income allow us less risk and a greater spectrum of ways we may offer support.
