Warrior Psychotherapy Services | Application Preview
Warrior Psychotherapy Services, owned by Courtney Patti, LCSW, is seeking government grants to develop the Warrior Wellness Performance Program. This innovative community-based initiative aims to provide psychoeducational resources and assessments for individuals with a history of traumatic brain injury who may not qualify for standard mental health treatment. The program focuses on five pillars of wellness: pain, sleep, nutrition, movement, and resiliency, and is designed to enhance overall performance through personalized education and individual care plans.
Services will cater not only to individuals with traumatic brain injuries but also to those in high-risk professions such as military, firefighters, and law enforcement. The program will incorporate wellness tools like Alpha Stim, BEMER, and HeartMath to offer non-medication alternatives for managing anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Caregiver education is also included to support the overall well-being of participants.
The program will be facilitated through in-person sessions, where individual assessments will identify specific needs and set tangible wellness goals. Participants will receive a tailored plan that may include up to 24 sessions, focusing on behavioral changes and skill development. Initial assessment tools will be employed to track progress.
In addition to therapy services, Warrior Psychotherapy Services is looking to establish partnerships with local agencies to enhance service delivery and address the significant demand for mental health resources in Front Royal, where existing providers face long wait times.
Future growth plans include the acquisition of additional wellness devices, the implementation of equine therapy sessions, and the recruitment of staff to meet community needs. Grant funding would not only help expand services but also lower the cost barrier for individuals seeking support.
Courtney Patti’s extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, particularly with veterans and those suffering from traumatic brain injuries, positions her well to lead this initiative. The proposed program aims to fill a vital gap in community wellness services, improving quality of life and functional abilities for individuals in need.

Funding Usage
I own Warrior Psychotherapy Services, PLLC which is outpatient clinic providing therapy services to individuals in Front Royal Virginia. I am looking at developing an innovative community-based wellness psychoeducational and individual assessments called Warrior Wellness Performance Program based out of my private practice Warrior Psychotherapy Services in Front Royal Virginia. The wellness program will focus on providing education and resources for individuals with history of traumatic brain injury that do not meet criteria for mental health treatment. The vision of the Warrior Wellness Performance Program is to enhanced performance with education and individual assessments to improvement in the mind, body, and spirit. I would also be able to provide individual care plans using wellness tools such as Alpha Stim, BEMBER, and HeartMath. The goal is to focus on education of five pillars of wellness: pain, sleep, nutrition, movement, and resiliency. The program will be available for individuals with history of traumatic brain injuries as well as for those in who work/live with duties with higher likelihood to sustain a traumatic brain injury such as military, firefighters, law enforcement, and those working in public safety services. Warrior Wellness Performance Program will also section for education for caregivers and support staff. If needed, individuals enrolled in the program can transition to transitional mental health services (based on meeting criteria for a mental health diagnosis and medical necessity). The proposed program would benefit the community by providing direct care in Front Royal to those who have sustained a traumatic brain injury in Virginia. This program will be used as a psychoeducational way to improve performance for mind, body, and spirit. Warrior Wellness Performance Program would provide a personal approach with each participant having an individual meeting their identified goals addressing wellness and performance with keeping in mind their best learning strengths (verbal, written, interactive). Along with educational material, I will also be utilize different wellness devices for assistance such: Alpha Stim therapy with uses low level current to treat anxiety, depression, insomnia and chronic pain (https://www.alpha-stim.com) ; BEMER device (https://life.bemergroup.com/) that uses a pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) to deliver a patented therapeutic signal for muscles and improve circulation; HeartMath (https://www.heartmath.com/) program help with learning about heart rate variability and using tools for relaxation within the body. Each of these devices helps individual develop non medication tools for relaxation without medication. In my research for opening Warrior Psychotherapy Services, I reviewed the competition showed behavioral health / wellness providers are overwhelmed with meeting the community needs as cited by long wait lists. The industry trends show the increasing need for development of various services that can provide both mental health and other creative wellness services. I have reached out to other community partners such as Virginia Department of Veteran Services (VDVS) to become a community partner for veterans that do not have access to care. I have also reached out to the Winchester Division of Rehabilitative Services and reviewed the services for vocational rehabilitation that assists people with disabilities in securing, maintaining, advancing in employment, independent living skills training, supported employment, assistive technology, and job placement. They will typically contract out behavioral health professionals such as my program for therapy. The Brain Injury Services provides several programs for individuals with sustained injuries with case management, short term counseling, support groups and vocational program. With reviewing the local resources, I believe the Warrior Wellness Performance Program can offer a new community service for those with traumatic brain injuries which will opens to more than just traditional mental health services. The Warrior Wellness Performance Program goal is to develop a wellness performance program to expand services to all individuals seeking improvements for mind, body, spirit. The program will be developed for individuals with history of traumatic brain injury to learn how to heal from sustained injuries as well as prevent future injuries. Individual assessment will occur in person at office location 130 A E. Main Street Front Royal Virginia in 60-minute time slots to determine the current functioning and identify goal areas for improvement using psychoeducation and lifestyle modifications tools. From that session, the individual will have a plan of education and resources developed directly for them based on their identified goals. Typically, the individual will have 6 to 12 sessions, but can go up to 24 sessions based on the needs identified. Objectives of the Warrior Wellness Performance Program to optimize performance and provide tangible skills. I will gather relevant information and build concepts of facilitating behavior change based on neuroscience. Individual treatment goals examples might address ameliorates functional impairments of traumatic brain injury, develop coping strategies to deal with stress, facilitate decision making regarding, and educate on the pillars of wellness (pain, sleep, nutrition, movement, and resilience). Focus on facilitating behavior change, learn the different functions of the brain, how information is communication within our body (neurotransmitters/hormones), what is sustainable peak performance, and learning how traumatic brain injury can impact relationships. Everyone will have an individual plan that will be customized for their goals in a time manner specific for their needs with goals that are objective and measurable. As part of the program, we will have development of other community resources to engage with recreational activities / services for implementation such as assessment for medication or dietary supplemental care with nutritional evaluations as wells make available trials of yoga, meditation, music, art, and equine assisted learning. Initial sessions will complete baseline self-assessment questionnaires using Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), General Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7), PTSD Checklist (PCL-5), Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (CSSRS) and the Mayo-Portland Adaptability Inventory 4 (MPAI-4). If during the plan of care, I use assisted devices such as Alpha Stim, BEMER, and HeartMath, will use a pre/post scale inventory assessment with range of 0 pain/no emotional distress to10 reporting worse pain/distress scale symptoms relief scale. Currently, I am the only provider available directly for this future program. I have started to reach out and find interested local community partners who are interested in working on this project. I am trying to find provider such as other mental health providers or a nutritionist. I hope to eventually I will be hiring the staff based on the needs of the referrals to an interdisciplinary team. If able to specifically be granted funds, I would like to establish an equine assisted therapy program using the EAGALA model, which will allow use of the community and animals for wellness and education. The creation of an equine assisted learning program would require finding and creating a program that have available the resources of horses, equine specialist, and equine facility for services.

Business Plan
Warrior Psychotherapy Services, PLLC is owned and founded by Courtney Patti, LCSW and I have been able to provide mental health services to individuals, couples, and family treatment for mental health disorders of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and chronic pain to regain functional activities in daily life. I am have started to the next steps in expanding the services offered by Warrior Psychotherapy Services with contracting with part time / as available services with a music therapist, part time licensed clinical social worker and will be onboarding part time psychiatric nurse practitioner to increase services to more patients. I was contacted by the local fire chief for a meeting to learn more about how Warrior Psychotherapy Services can support the Warren Co. fire department and potentially other services for protection services for Warren Co. I have begun to develop the Warrior Wellness Performance Program to provide a wellness performance program to improve the wellness, quality of life with focus treatment and education on five pillars of wellness focusing on pain, sleep, nutrition, movement, and resiliency. I have been introducing the idea of the Warrior Wellness Performance Program to different community contacts local in Front Royal such as Sheriff department that will look for funding from the respective agencies. This specific program development for the community helps expand services to all individuals seeking improvements that do not necessary need specific mental health services but seek improvements for functional living and performance improvements. I currently have the limitation to provide access to those who can use insurance (meaning they meet medical criteria for a disorder and insurance will determine the treatment coverage) or pay privately. The funds would be to advance our services, but also meet need for local community that needs a lower fee / no cost of service. Other growth advancement in the next 5 years would having the ability to purchase the tools for patients to increased ability to provide wellness services. The tools to be purchased are: Alpha stim therapy (one unit of Alpha stim M and 1 unit Alpha stim AID) to expand services from my current availability of one unit. This is a FDA approved/ non medication tool to help treat anxiety, depression, insomnia and chronic pain. Individuals would benefit from daily treatments and have a home unit. I would like to empower patients to practice with a home-based tool that delivers results for chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, and depression and they are able to return to this provider when not needed further or decide to purchase their own. With only one unit, I am unable to send the unit home with them for trials to determine benefit of individuals purchasing their own home units. I would like to also purchase a BEMER device and make it available for trials in person to help by temporarily increases local blood circulation in healthy muscles. The knowledge of how important the body can heal can allow insight for behavioral change in daily life activities. I would like to purchase HeartMath technology will be used for wellness by helping individual understand the psychophysiology of stress, emotions and the interactions with the heart and brain. Finally, the the growth in the next 5 years is to develop an additional therapeutic tool using Equine Psychotherapy where we offer equine assisted learning for individuals to learn in real time the ability to connect with themselves to others through activities with horse and other equines to promote human physical and mental health. Funds will be used to establish a relationship with a local facility where horses and equine support staff can be used for providing services, rental cost of the farm and horses. The owner of the horse facility will require certification training in the EAGALA model as equine specialist to complete in order to offer the services. Overall, with the ability to grow the program, i will need to continued to advertising with purchase flyers, online ads, buying other additional hands on coping skills tools such as stress balls and essential oils, weighted blankets. I would like to be able to give away coping skill go bags / kits for my patients and as part of community events to spread the awareness of our program. My name is Courtney Patti, I am licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Front Royal Virginia. My experience includes working in facilities such as Children’s National Medical Center, Washington Hospital Center Outpatient Behavioral Health, University of Virginia Medical Center, Sheppard Pratt Health System and Ft Belvoir Community Hospital working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I transition from working at Ft Belvoir and moved to Front Royal Virginia and opened my private practice providing mental health services in February 2021 offering virtual therapy for adult military and veterans for treatment of mental health services to include impacts from traumatic brain injuries. As I began advertising for my services, I was consistently contacted with urgent need for mental health therapy in Front Royal Virginia for the general population. I began looking at how I can expand my private practice and found an office location on historic main street which was hit hard by the pandemic for small business. A local family that had office space available and encouraged me to open services to local community as they felt strongly my private practice would help the local community providing in person mental health services. I was able to begin to offer in person mental health services for the military and veterans as well as open for all adults and their families in September 2021. In the first year of services, I am happy to share that Warrior Psychotherapy Services has been able to provide mental health services to many individuals, couples, and family treatment for mental health disorders of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and chronic pain helping individual recovery for their identified emotional, physical, and spiritual injuries to regain functional activities in daily life. I am excited to continue to develop this service and expand with other providers to meet the needs of the community. Along with developing Warrior Psychotherapy Services with more staff and cost of hiring and salaries for staff. I would use the funds to purchase different wellness devices for assistance such: Alpha Stim therapy with uses low level current to treat anxiety, depression, insomnia and chronic pain (https://www.alpha-stim.com) ; BEMER device (https://life.bemergroup.com/) that uses a pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) to deliver a patented therapeutic signal for muscles and improve circulation; HeartMath (https://www.heartmath.com/) program help with learning about heart rate variability and using tools for relaxation within the body. Each of these devices helps individual develop non medication tools for relaxation without medication. As mentioned in the section on how I would like to grow the business, i discussed the tools to help individuals to increased ability to provide wellness services. Finally, the the growth in the next 5 years is to develop an additional therapeutic tool of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy individuals have a specific treatment through activities with horses and other equines to promote human physical and mental health. Funds will be used to establish a relationship with a local barn facility where horses and equine support staff would be available / rental cost of the farm and horses.
