All Kinds All Kinds | Government Grant Application

All Kinds | Application Preview

All Kinds is seeking government grant funding to establish a welcoming coffee shop designed for families, especially those with young children, in Southern Oregon. The funding will be used to prepare the shop's physical space, including necessary renovations, equipment installation, and furniture setup. The unique concept aims to create a community hub where people of all ages can enjoy quality coffee, participate in children's activities, and access resources for parents.

The shop will feature a children's area, a book wall, and host regular events such as craft projects and "open book" days. All Kinds aims to foster a safe and supportive environment for families, distinguishing itself from local competitors like Great Harvest Bread Co, Forage, and Dutch Bros, which do not cater specifically to children and families.

By integrating enriching activities and community support initiatives, All Kinds plans to cultivate a loyal customer base driven by meaningful interactions rather than just profit. The mission is not only to provide excellent coffee and snacks but also to enhance the lives of customers and the local community, establishing a unique and inclusive experience in the coffee shop landscape.

  • Funding Usage

Funding received will go directly into preparing the space for a coffee shop, one that welcomes "All Kinds." The name All Kinds is versatile and would be descriptive of the kind of people we welcome and the services and goods offered. It would be a coffee shop of sorts, but one that has something for people of all ages, particularly young children and their parents. Southern Oregon has limited options for people with small children and this would be a space for them to come, enjoy their families and others', and learn together. The space is in need of paint, minor cosmetic repairs, installation of coffee bar equipment, furniture and all that comes with a coffee shop. In addition, there will be a room length books shelf for patrons to read while they relax, a children's area equipped with furniture, select toys, activity center, etc. There will also be an additional space to be used for parent support groups, or reserved for certain clubs/groups.

  • Business Plan

Once our doors open, we will be in a constant state of growth and adaptation. The very idea of All Kinds is meant to meet the needs of the customers and our community. Marketing will take place continuously with weekly craft projects, monthly "open books" (bring in five children's books, subject to approval, and receive a free beverage, social media campaigns as well as new parent resources. The space will be welcoming to children of all ages and their familes. All Kinds will be a different kind of coffee shop. Yes, it will have outstanding coffee and espresso, but it will also be much more than that. It will have a book wall, children's area with activity center, and weekly children's crafts offered at no cost, and it will be a space where parents can come with or without their children to feel safe, peaceful, receive support and also learn. This concept has so many opportunities inherent in it, there are unlimited resources that may be offered and will encourage customers to return again and again.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our local competition in the coffee shop aspect will be Great Harvest Bread Co, Forage and Dutch Bros. While these businesses have been around longer, they cannot offer what we will. None of them are accommodating to children, let alone welcoming to them and their families. This will truly be a one of a "kind" experience. In addition to brewed coffee, espresso and tasty treats, All Kinds will offer much more to the community; as previously mentioned, weekly crafts for children, fresh squeezed organic juice, "open book" events, space for support groups for new parents, musical Fridays, and reasonable prices. Our focus, apart from profit, will be enriching the lives of all who are part of All Kinds, from employees to customers and the surrounding community. It might sound like an idealist dream, but it is certainly achievable. If there is a resource we do not offer, we will also be a way for others to connect to those who can help.
