Xtra Tech, LLC 86-3501987 | Government Grant Application

Xtra Tech, LLC | Application Preview

Xtra Tech, LLC is applying for government grants to support a significant expansion of its facilities, estimated to cost over $500,000 for building and equipment. An additional $500,000 is intended for developing a website, app, and marketing efforts.

The business aims to establish itself as the primary source of technicians in Kosciusko County, with a plan to monetize its services. This includes doubling the existing retail business through fleet services, offering training to high school students outside the current Career Center, and launching an app for 'sublet repair' that connects vetted technicians and shops. The app will generate revenue through subscriptions and a percentage of repair bills and has the potential for nationwide growth.

Funding approval is sought based on the innovative nature of the business model, which combines traditional car repairs with online elements. This approach addresses the pressing shortage of technicians and allows them to operate home-based businesses while working with various repair facilities. Additionally, Xtra Tech ensures quality control through mutual reviews between technicians and shops and aims to produce new technicians by providing training within an actual repair environment.

Currently, Xtra Tech does not see direct competitors in this space, as many are merely considering the need without taking actionable steps. The company's unique offering of allowing technicians to work from home while maintaining a quality network, along with its training center for aspiring technicians, sets it apart in the industry.

  • Business Plan

Becoming the source of Technicians in Kosciusko County will be monetized. Fleet service will double the existing retail customer business for the local repair facility. Training outside of the current High School Career Center students will be monetized. The app based "sublet repair" via vetted shops and vetted techs will generate subscriptions and percentage of repair bill revenue. This program will grow nationwide. This is a unique model that incorporates taking car repairs into the cloud while retaining the brick and mortar for the physical portion of drop off, delivery and warranty but taking the warranty nationwide. This helps resolve a huge need for technicians as well as allowing technicians to have their own home based business and draw the type of work they excel at from multiple repair facilities. It also allows for a different level of control of the quality of the technician and the quality of the shops by shops reviewing techs and techs reviewing shops. Finally the production of new technicians via training in a working auto repair business is filling a need that has been ignored for a couple of generations.

  • Self Identified Competition

I don't feel we have a competitor in this at the moment. Many are thinking about the need but few have stepped out and taken steps in this direction. Allowing technicians the opportunity to do a home based business and yet draw from multiple shops the work that they do best is in my opinion new to the market. Vetting techs and shops to bring them into this network and having an ongoing quality control via techs reviewing shops and shops reviewing techs I believe is new to the industry. Having a training center for High School and up within a repair business is not something I have seen done yet.
