Isbells Concrete | Application Preview
Isbells Concrete is requesting government grant funding to acquire essential equipment for their business. The funds will be used to purchase a small tractor with a front-end loader and box blade, a motorized concrete buggy, and a truck and trailer to transport this equipment. Currently, the owner relies on a family tractor and older trucks, which limits efficiency and capacity.
In the first year, Isbells Concrete has established a working relationship with a pool contractor and has received interest from additional contractors for future projects. With the required equipment, the business aims to enhance productivity, potentially doubling their workload and creating job opportunities for employees. The owner envisions building a business that can be passed down to his two sons.
The request for funding is grounded in the necessity of heavy machinery to streamline operations. Currently managing around 25 pool decks and various driveways and patios, the owner believes that with the right tools, the output could increase to 50-75 pool decks annually. The business is well-positioned, as the local market has few competitors specializing in swimming pool decks.
Isbells Concrete's competitive advantage lies in their focus on smaller projects, allowing for faster job completion and enabling homeowners to enjoy their new pools sooner. While larger companies prioritize bigger projects, Isbells aims to cater to the niche of small-scale pool deck jobs, resulting in greater customer satisfaction and more frequent work.

Funding Usage
I plan to use the funding to purchase a small tractor with front end loader and box blade which is used grade dirt around swimming pools. I will purchase a motorized concrete buggy (Georgia buggy) which is used to get concrete into small spaces that a concrete truck cannot get. will also purchase a truck and trailer to haul the tractor and buggy as my current work truck is not sufficient to haul that much equipment together

Business Plan
In my first year I currently have a pool contractor that I do all of his concrete work. I have multiple contractors that are requesting my services in the future. If I am able to get the equipment needed to be more efficient I will be able to double my workload and potentially hire employees to add more contractors and homeowners to our schedule. I have two sons ages 10 and 3 that I am working very hard to grow a business that I can pass down to them in the future I am operating a hard manual labor business that requires heavy equipment to be efficient I am currently staying very busy using a family tractor and used trucks that I purchased to get me started. If I had the proper equipment I could grow my business from the current 25 pool decks and miscellaneous driveways and patios to 50-75 pool decks a year. I have the contractors lined up that want me to do the work I just don’t have the means to complete all the work they need done in a timely manner. I could specialize in only pouring swimming pool decks and essentially double to triple my work completed if I had the proper equipment.

Self Identified Competition
I live in an area that has multiple older concrete finishers Randy Keenum, Lansdell construction and Gary Keenum do most of the commercial buildings, new construction and driveways in our area and don’t normally take on smaller jobs such as swimming pool decks and patios. I do not have any direct competition in the area of swimming pool decks in which I would like to specialize. By concentrating on specializing in pouring a specific type of concrete I can schedule and complete jobs faster therefore allowing the homeowners to use their newly installed pool sooner. The bigger company’s in my area seem to concentrate on large square footage jobs that allow the to make more money a day I would rather complete multiple small jobs a week and give the homeowners the backyard of their dreams.
