All of a Sutton LLC | Application Preview
All of a Sutton LLC is seeking up to $30,000 in government grant funding to support the establishment of their transportation business. The funds will be used for several essential startup costs, including a down payment on a vehicle, commercial insurance, and obtaining necessary operating authorities such as an MC number and DOT number. Additionally, the grant will help cover initial operational expenses, including managing cash flow with clients that have a 30-day invoice period.
The business plan entails starting with one vehicle and one driver, initially the owner themselves. As revenue grows, the plan includes purchasing additional vehicles and hiring more drivers, with the owner taking on the role of dispatcher and manager to enhance profitability by 50%. The intention is to gradually expand the fleet and driver base.
The applicant emphasizes the high demand within the transportation industry, particularly for expedited services like hot shot trucking, which offers rates of $2-4 per mile and operational costs significantly lower than traditional semi-trucks. The experience as a freight broker further underscores the market need for such services.
In terms of competition, All of a Sutton LLC identifies major players like Old Dominion, XPO Logistics, and Saia, highlighting their extensive networks. However, the business aims to differentiate itself by providing expedited, high-quality service at comparable or lower rates, positioning itself to better meet customer needs.

Funding Usage
I need the funding to put a down-payment on a vehicle, either lease or purchase, purchase commercial insurance, and obtain my MC number/authority and DOT number, and for the first few weeks of being on the road. Also some customers would have a 30-day invoice period. That should total to around $30,000 maximum.

Business Plan
My first step is to start my company with one vehicle and one driver, myself and then when I have enough to put a down payment on another vehicle I will then hire a driver and book the loads for them. I would act as a dispatcher/manager which would increase my profits by 50%, and continue to build my fleet of vehicles and drivers. I know the transportation industry has a high demand for drivers and hot shot trucking is an expedited form of transporting goods, which ranges from $2-4/mile while spending less than half the money on fuel that a normal class 8 semi truck spends. I am a freight broker as well and know the demand for hot shot truckers is incredibly high.

Self Identified Competition
My top three competitors would be Old Dominion, XPO Logistics and Saia. They are massive transportation companies who have the biggest network of Less-than-truckload lanes. My business is expedited and can guarantee quick white-glove service for the same or less rate.
