Game Day Athletics LLC | Application Preview
Game Day Athletics LLC is seeking government funding to establish a multi-sport complex in Galveston County, TX, with a mission to combat childhood obesity by promoting physical activity and social engagement among youth aged 7-18. The funding will be allocated for purchasing sports and fitness equipment, safety supplies, cleaning materials, securing property for the gym and field, advertising, merchandise, and concession items.
The business aims to provide a variety of group fitness classes and sports activities, fostering a supportive environment that emphasizes respect, safety, clear communication, discipline, and teamwork. The founder, with extensive experience in education and youth mentorship, believes in creating a quality learning space that encourages children to be active while having fun.
Game Day Athletics will face minimal competition in a fragmented market, as the startup costs may deter many entrants. The existing facilities in nearby areas offer similar services, but none match the community-focused and holistic approach that Game Day aspires to provide. The business plans to target children aged 7-18 and their parents, recognizing that these families are crucial to driving participation in sports and fitness.
The founder's personal connection to the community and understanding of childhood obesity issues give Game Day Athletics a unique competitive edge. The facility will not only serve as a place for youth activities but also provide parents with opportunities to engage in fitness and support their children's development in a collaborative environment.

Game Day Athletics has the potential to grow to a multi-sport complex in the Galveston county TX area with the main goal being to make childhood obesity a thing of the past. This can be achieved by offering youth ages (7-18+) opportunities to be active and social in their communities, providing court/field rentals, and community outreach. Game day Athletics will offer small-large group fitness classes that range from in-class fitness games/lessons to outdoor team sports where every student is taught all aspects of the game to achieve success. As a small upcoming gym business, G.D.A. LLC will need everything a small business in fitness will need to succeed in today's fitness/recreation market such as up-to-date sports facilities, fitness equipment, land, and gym space. GDA will need a growing and educated staff, sports trainer, and management team. Over the years, I have acquired relevant skills and experience that will enhance how GDA will grow in the community. In my experience, I've worked tirelessly on my communication abilities, teamwork skills, and licensed educator credentials that will give me the advantage to grow my vision by mentoring youth and educating them about human body movement. Self Identified Competition
There are no major players in the industry. It is highly fragmented, facilitating the entry of our sports complex. The establishment that will be able to adapt fastest to changing consumer trends and desired sports will determine the success and the competitive advantage of the establishment. Individual sports experience an increase in interest. The threat of Entry (Potential Competitors) - the startup costs and maintenance for this kind of facility are anywhere in the neighborhood of $50-70 thousand. Therefore, I can see competitors having the initial capital to invest or having the ability to risk such a hefty amount of money. There is not anyone in the State of Texas that offers the services that Lyric Spriggins Owner of Game Day Athletics LLC can offer. The direct competition for Game Day Athletics LLC includes the following: Upside Sportplex (Alvin), League City Sportplex (League City), Big League Dreams(League City) At these, various types of locations membership classes, court rentals, and field rentals are available. I am born and raised in a strong community that raised me into the Educator/entrepreneur I am today. I also share the same hardships our elementary-high school students are suffering with; obesity in early childhood -teen years. This can be the cause of many such as a lack of nutritional literacy, access to parks and recreation activities, and healthy meals due to poverty. Our target market is children, boys/girls in the age group 7-18, and adults ages 19-active elderly in Dickinson, TX, and surrounding areas. This age segment of the market makes up 70% of all sports participants and adult gym members make up 18.2% of the population in the US. Furthermore, we will target boys; girls, and adults, boys make up 67% of children playing sports. Children in youth sports usually do not start playing around age 3-4, intermediate and high school by targeting them we would be able to attract and keep them at our facility early. Children in general do not decide what sports they will play or where they are going to play. The parents make these decisions. Therefore, our secondary target market is parents as well as Adults with families. Parents like to stay and watch their children in team settings. They also want to go to a place where they are being educated and where they can learn about sports, the atmosphere as well as an opportunity to work out. This is not offered to them anywhere in our area. Team competing venues where they can interact and exercise in team settings or participate in the sport they might have played in college afterward are common in Europe but not in the United States. Our facility will give parents the opportunity to watch their kids after school, participate in sports, or work out themselves, while their children are looked after.
