Birmie's Fixins 86-2025109 | Government Grant Application

Birmie's Fixins | Application Preview

Birmie's Fixins is seeking government grants to alleviate overdue bills and fund the construction of a food trailer. This investment will allow for greater mobility, reducing reliance on a commissary kitchen and cutting monthly costs. The business aims to improve its operations by acquiring larger smoking equipment to increase service frequency and expand locations, particularly to tourist areas with higher customer volumes. Additionally, Birmie's Fixins plans to hire more staff and eventually operate a second food truck.

The owner emphasizes a strong work ethic rooted in family values, drawing on a background in the restaurant business and a military career. Their commitment to quality barbecue is evidenced by recent accolades, including winning the title for best mac and cheese at a festival in Richmond, VA. Birmie’s Fixins competes with larger establishments like Mommas BBQ but believes its personalized service and dedication to quality set it apart in the market.

  • Funding Usage

Funding would be used to catch up on overdue bills and start to get our food trailer built to be able to go to more places, set up easier and so we wouldn't have to use the commissary kitchen and save on that monthly cost. Also, some would be saved for slow times of the year to keep caught up on monthly expenses.

  • Business Plan

Our plan to grow our business is to get the food trailer and larger smoking equipment. We would be able to set up in more places and more times per week. Also, we plan to go to more vacation locations that have larger amounts of customers. We also plan on hiring more workers to help with the volume of customers and eventually, have a second food truck to be in multiple locations. I have always been a hard worker. I grew up as 1 of 7 brother and sisters. My father owned his own restaurant in upstate NY for over 25 years before he retired. In that time, I moved out of state to persue my military career in which I medically retired after 21 years as a Staff Sergeant. In my time in the military, I was in 2 deployments. I have always strived to do my best at what I do and that has not changed with the BBQ I make. My wife and I always go out and do everything we can to make our customers happy. We also just won best mac and cheese in Richmond, VA with our signature Smoked Bacon Jalapeño Mac N Cheese at the Virginia Mac N Cheese fest.

  • Self Identified Competition

Mommas BBQ is probably our biggest competitor, which we beat them in the Mac and cheese fest We are a smaller business than them, and I believe we put more love into our food and everything we do. We are more personable with our customers
