The Gingham Dog The Gingham Dog | Government Grant Application

The Gingham Dog | Application Preview

The Gingham Dog is seeking government grants to support its business operations. The funding will primarily be allocated for inventory, shipping, duties, and advertising. The business plan focuses on enhancing business-to-business relationships, utilizing social media for widespread advertising, and testing products in golf clubhouses, starting with Forest Ridge at a Troon course in Broken Arrow, OK. If successful, the strategy will expand to other clubs.

With over 35 years of experience in the apparel industry, the owner boasts a high-quality product line comparable to notable brands like Peter Millar, Lululemon, and Adidas. However, the lack of advertising funds limits the ability to promote the product effectively. The owner plans to hire a Social Media expert and a graphic designer once funding is secured.

In terms of competition, while Lululemon focuses on workout gear and Peter Millar offers a broader range not concentrated on performance wear, The Gingham Dog emphasizes functionality across various settings, including work, leisure, and golf. The competitive edge includes features like UV protection, moisture-wicking, four-way stretch, and easy care. The brand's apparel aims to fit better than most products in the market and includes unique elements such as grippers in waistbands and hidden pockets, offering a cotton-like feel without the maintenance hassle.

  • Business Plan

Develop more business to business. Advertise widely on social media. Test orders in Golf Clubhouses. (I have 1 at a Troon course in Broken Arrow OK call Forest Ridge). If successful can spread to other clubs. I don't have any employees, because I can't afford to pay anyone unless I can get some funding. Two heads would be better than one. If I could I would first add a Social Media expert, and then a graphic designer. I have been in the apparel business for over 35 years. I have some of the best product in the market, but don't have the funds for advertising to move the product forward. My product is as good or better than Peter MIllar, Lululemon, or Adidas. Just need a couple of breaks.

  • Self Identified Competition

Lululemon has been in the performance sportwear area for a long time but concentrates on workout wear. Peter MIllar is a gentlemen's line that is spread over Casual Sportswear, Golf, Dress clothes, and Performance sportswear. Not focused on Performance wear as I am. Public Rec is performance sportswear. Good product, but hit or miss. The send out advertising for all classifications including socks and underwear. They are spread thin in my opinion. Our line of clothes is wear to work, out on the town, and on the golf course. All product has performance attributes like UV protection, Wicking, 4-way stretch, comfort fits, and easy care. I have been making pants for most brands in the market though the career I've had. Our product fits better than the majority in the market. Our polos have a super soft hand feel and a cottony feel with performance that you can't get from cotton. There are subtle details to all product, like shirt grippers in the waistband, hidden pockets, and Easy care- NO DRY CLEANING!
