Plan: Reminiscence Village | Application Preview
Plan: Reminiscence Village is seeking government grants to support the establishment of a facility designed to care for residents with moderate to severe memory loss. The proposed budget totals $818,220, primarily allocated for staffing and operational costs. This includes funding for ten full-time and ten part-time nursing assistants or medical technicians, as well as a business office manager and dietary staff. Key responsibilities for the nursing staff encompass care assistance, meal preparation, activity facilitation, and medication administration.
The facility will begin with a single building accommodating 25 residents, with plans to expand in the future. The project is led by a highly qualified team, featuring a doctorate-prepared nurse practitioner with specialized credentials in psychiatric mental health and gerontology, alongside a nursing educator from UW Oshkosh. Their expertise aims to create a supportive environment that alleviates caregiver stress, promotes residents' well-being, and potentially lowers overall medical costs.
The competition includes Curative Connections in Green Bay, which offers a daytime dementia village but does not provide residential services. Reminiscence Village aims to stand out by integrating residents into a supportive community where they can thrive in a familiar and personalized setting, addressing the needs for education, socialization, and specialized care that many families struggle to find elsewhere.

Master's prepared nursing educator at UW Oshkosh teaching primarily end-of-life, Community Health, and Aging courses in the nursing program. This innovative plan for a dementia village will allow residents suffering from memory loss to continue to live and thrive while decreasing the caregiver burden. Anticipated to decrease overhead medical costs by providing a sustainable environment enhancing physical and mental health.

Self Identified Competition
Curative Connections in Green Bay opening a daytime dementia village, nonresidential. The dementia village will allow residents suffering from memory loss to continue to live and thrive and be able to do so in their own reality. Eventually, dementia becomes so progressive that families are not able to care for them at home anymore. Many families struggle with putting their loved one in a facility due to the lack of knowledge and education on understanding dementia, short-staff, high acuity, and lack of socialization and interaction necessary for a person with dementia.
