Sweet P’s Thrift & Gifts | Application Preview
Sweet P’s Thrift & Gifts is seeking government grants to support its transition from a rental space to a permanent brick-and-mortar location after three years of operation. The funding will be used for essential upgrades to the store, which will enhance its appearance and better serve the local community by introducing new brands. The owner expresses a strong commitment to both the business and the town, emphasizing the challenges of self-funding while also managing employee salaries.
The business plan highlights the need for new equipment to expedite order processing, allowing the owner to fulfill customer requests more efficiently and reduce wait times for products. The owner shares a personal narrative illustrating their dedication to the business, having started with minimal resources and built it from the ground up as a single mother. The goal is not only to further develop the business but also to create a legacy for the owner's children.
In terms of competition, the owner notes that local rivals operate part-time from home, while they dedicate 40 to 60 hours a week to the store. The competitive edge lies in their hands-on presence and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, working beyond typical hours to ensure the needs of the community are met. The owner is enthusiastic about the future and believes that with financial support, they can significantly enhance and grow Sweet P’s Thrift & Gifts.

Funding Usage
I am in the process of purchasing my Brick & Mortar. I’ve been renting for 3 years. The store needs upgrades & would love to buy into new brands to offer in our small town to better suit or customers. This would help them to shop local. The store needs some upgrades that would not only help our pride but also help our downtown look more updates as well. With pouring so much of my own money into starting up & paying employees it’s hard to get ahead so I’m able to offer new brands & do needed repairs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I wasn’t sure what amount to put because ANY amount would help. The more I could get the more I could do to grow & maintain my small business! I would be happy with any amount but I promise it would ALL go to make our little Sweet Ps BIGGER & BETTER!!! :)

Business Plan
I would love to secure some funding to be able to add new equipment to cut my turn around time down. If I have to order my products & wait for them to come in it costs time. If I have the equipment to do it myself I could cut the time down & get more orders out. I’ve worked hard since I was 15…I started my business with $500 & my laundry room. Bought my equipment & a few shirts & here I am… I’ve poured my heart & soul not only into my business but my town! I’m always listening to the customers & trying to get & carry brands & items they ask for! I’m truly a peoples business! I work long days & hours to make demands! As a single mom to 2 wonderful kids who are usually by my side helping also they have seen what it takes to MAKE a living. Not just clock in & out. I want to make this a business that I can pass on to them and they are proud to keep it going for years to come! They have sacrificed “home time” with naps in the back room & microwave dinners during busy times! I just want this business to continue growing. This isn’t a one & done business. It’s a MAKE IT UNTIL I MAKE IT. I’ve came to far to give up & will just continue to grow & improve my goods & services!

Self Identified Competition
I have a couple that work from home & do what I do. None of these are FULL TIME JOBS. They are all doing it for a hobby or side job. I put 40-60 Hrs a week into my store. When you come in you see me. Not someone selling my stuff. I put in the work. When it’s 5pm they close & go home. I stay until the job is done. I put in the extra work to make sure each & every one of my customers are satisfied & have what they need on time! I’m not a 9-5 gal. I’m a start early & finish when the work is done person. I take pride in knowing people can message or come by & not worry if they can get what they need in time!
