Clarity Art Studios LLC | Application Preview

Clarity Art Studios LLC is seeking government grants to secure funding for a liquor license, which is not covered by their existing SBA loan for startup costs. The funding will be used exclusively for this license.

The business is leveraging various veteran entrepreneur resources, including classes and guidance from a mentor at Grand Valley State University, to build a solid foundation for growth. They have a five-year financial plan aiming for a minimum annual growth rate of 10%, and they are well-informed about financial metrics like break-even points and profit margins.

The applicant emphasizes their unique perspective as a retired, disabled female veteran with 24 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. They bring valuable life experience and a commitment to lifelong learning, utilizing resources to enhance their business acumen. By establishing this venture, they aim to create community experiences that promote mental health and social connections through engaging paint parties and events, including opportunities for local non-profit fundraisers.

While there is competition, notably from the well-established Painting with a Twist, Clarity Art Studios offers more than just classes. They prioritize creating memorable experiences that foster creativity, friendship, and relaxation, evidenced by the applicant’s own passion and experience in the field. This approach positions them to successfully meet community needs, particularly in a post-COVID environment.

  • Business Plan

I am currently using multiple veteran entrepreneur resources. Classes and cohorts to educated and learn all I can about business. I am also working with a mentor from Grand Valley State University to ensure business success. I have a 5 year financial plan with goals and timelines for growing my business at a rate of 10% per year minimum. I know cost in vs cost out, break even point, profit point, and also researching other franchise owners best business practices. I am a retire, disabled female veteran and served 24 years in the United States Air Force. I have invaluable experience learning to pivot and change as circumstances grow. Learning is a lifelong pursuit and I am absorbing and applying business knowled learned through any resource I can find that will help my business. I also have the guidance of a successful franchise. In addition, this is a business that will not only help me grow but allow me to help others. With the current atmosphere post covid mental health and downtime is vital to the health of our communities. These paint parties are not just classes or events they are experiences that help relieve stress, provide carefree escapes, a chance to let go and laugh again. In addition we can also host non-profit fundraisers in the local community to give back to those in need. While financing for a liquor license may not seem like much in reality it is a pathway to serve others while being able to provide for my family.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are other franchised paint and sip venues however Painting with a Twist is the original founding paint and sip. They formed after Hurricane Katrina hit when they saw a need for renewed community and stress relief. They have been ranked the No. 1 Paint and Sip franchise as part of Entrepreneur magazine’s annual Franchise 500 edition for seven years! They are also evolving and growing with market needs. Other paint and sips have only begun to touch on the level of this franchise. We don't just teach a class, we provide an experience, fun, friendship, creativity, inspiration, confidence building, an outlet, social interaction on a whole new level! It's something you have to do to truly feel the full impact of this. I found out when I worked at one part time while on active duty in the military. Even as an artist teaching I couldn't wait to get to work. ALL of my worries melted away once I walked through that door no matter my day. The same is said for our customers and I saw it first hand for nearly 2 years as an instructor. Not to mention, they also held strong during covid!
