Marina Greens PlaySchool 85-3033223 | Government Grant Application

Marina Greens PlaySchool | Application Preview

Marina Greens PlaySchool is seeking government grants to help launch their small, in-home childcare service. The funding will be allocated for essential items such as furniture, equipment, groceries, and to reimburse the owner for previously purchased materials.

The business aims to address the limited childcare options in the area by offering a safe, COVID-19 compliant environment tailored to support both young children and those involved in distance learning. With over a decade of childcare experience, including six years as a Director at a childcare center, the owner is well-equipped to provide high-quality care and effective business management.

While facing competition from larger preschools like Busy Bee, Discovery Tree, and HeadStart, Marina Greens has a unique advantage. The larger centers are experiencing challenges with high turnover rates and increased enrollment, which can affect the quality of care. In contrast, the owner has already secured eight families interested in her program, emphasizing smaller child-to-staff ratios and a nurturing atmosphere.

Marina Greens PlaySchool differentiates itself by combining a caring home environment with preschool-level education, utilizing Montessori and Emergent curriculum methods. This unique offering supports parents who are balancing their work commitments with their children's educational needs, making it an attractive option for families in the community.

  • Funding Usage

This would help get our business off of the ground and provide food, furniture, equipment, groceries and funds to repay owner for already purchased items.

  • Business Plan

Child care is limited in our area right now and by having a small, in home daycare, parents are being provided child care with support for distance learning children as well as a smaller environment that is COVID-19 safe as opposed to larger preschool settings. I have been working in child care for over 10 years and have been a Director at a child care center for 6 years. I am well versed in what it takes, not only to care for children and run a quality program but also to run a business on the back end.

  • Self Identified Competition

My competitors are large preschools like Busy Bee, Discovery Tree and HeadStart, however those businesses are losing families with their large influx of new children and rotating door of staff. I have 8 families already lined up as I have ensured them a quality program with smaller ratios and 2 very strong staff (me and one other). I provide a loving and caring environment in my home with the addition of preschool style learning (Montessori and Emergent curriculum) as well as an option for school aged children who are distance learning. This takes the pressure off of parents who are juggling work and their child's schooling.
