American Custom Carpentry 88-2058534 | Government Grant Application

American Custom Carpentry | Application Preview

American Custom Carpentry is seeking a government grant to fund the purchase of a 60'x100' metal building on a 1.5-foot thick slab, along with five acres of land priced at $150,000. In addition, the business plans to allocate approximately $60,000 for interior renovations to create an office, restrooms, and a heating and cooling system. Another $45,000 is needed to acquire essential commercial-grade equipment for custom cabinet production, bringing the total funding request to $225,000.

The business strategy focuses on delivering high-quality cabinets at competitive prices to build a strong customer base. Future goals include saving for a CNC wood router to enhance production efficiency and eventually establishing a second shop dedicated to manufacturing doors and drawer fronts. The company also intends to offer countertops directly from its facility, creating a more convenient experience for customers. A key objective is to create a workplace with excellent benefits and competitive pay for skilled employees.

The applicant highlights personal qualities that may resonate with grant decision-makers, including service in the Marines and extensive hands-on experience in construction since childhood. This foundational knowledge fuels a commitment to building a sustainable business for future generations and providing job opportunities within the community.

In terms of competition, the business acknowledges three established companies: Texas Built Cabinets, Taylor Made Custom Cabinets, and Larry Porter's Custom Cabinets. While these competitors produce quality work, their busy schedules often lead to longer wait times for customers. Given the rapid growth in the area, particularly due to new refinery projects, the applicant believes there is ample opportunity to capture additional market share.

The competitive advantage lies in offering comprehensive home renovation services, making American Custom Carpentry a one-stop solution for customers' needs.

  • Funding Usage

To purchase a 60'x100' metal building on a 1 1/2' thick slab with five acres of land. This property is for sale for $150,000.00. It will need some interior work done to enclose an area for an office, restrooms and central air and heat. I figure $60,000.00 would cover these expenses. I'd also need money to buy all the necessary commercial grade equipment to build custom cabinets. I've already researched and have a folder of must have equipment and hand tools to build custom cabinets and the dollar figure is approximately $45,000.00. In total $225,000.00.

  • Business Plan

First by providing high quality cabinets at affordable prices which will build a larger clientele. Then after saving enough money to buy a cnc wood router that will increase productivity by a large margin. Next move will be to open another shop that produces only doors and drawer fronts. Also provide customers the opportunity to buy countertops directly from our shop instead of having to go to a countertop company. Last but not least have highly skilled employees who love to build cabinets and be able to offer them great benefits and great pay. Number one reason is because I served as a marine in Iraq and understand what it takes to operate under pressure and endless hours of operations. I will always be a builder even without this grant, it's what I know and love. At 9 years of age I worked with my grandfather and dad every weekend and all summer in residential construction. I have the abilities to build a home from the ground up. Of course I don't know everything, but I do know how to research and learn whatever it is I must achieve. To be honest my main goal is to build a company that my five children I love so dearly will have an opportunity to work at and to help those in our community that need employment.

  • Self Identified Competition

Texas Built Cabinets Taylor Made Custom Cabinets Larry Porter's Custom These three companies are awesome companies that build great cabinets there is nothing bad to say about them at all. They all stay with full schedules and customers sometimes have long waits. Our area is growing very rapidly and will continue to. Especially with two new large refinery's currently being built in our area that will bring in many new people to work those refineries which equivalates into many new homes to be built. I will also provide full renovations of the customers home. I plan to be a one stop shop for my customer's needs.
