Homeplace Learning Center | Application Preview
Homeplace Learning Center is seeking government grants to secure a larger SBA loan for establishing a daycare facility in Douglasville. The funding will cover the purchase and construction of a building, along with essential startup costs like licenses, equipment, and marketing.
The mission of Homeplace is to become a leading daycare in the area, with aspirations to expand to multiple locations. The applicant brings 20 years of experience in K-12 education, including roles as a teacher and school leader, and holds a doctorate in educational leadership. Understanding the critical early years of child development and the importance of quality childcare, the applicant aims to create both a safe and enriching environment for children and their families.
In terms of competition, established daycare centers such as The Children's Courtyard, Chapel Hill Academy, and Sunshine House are nearby, accepting similar age groups. However, the applicant believes they have a competitive advantage based on personal experiences with these centers. Their children did not receive the academic preparation expected for Kindergarten while attending another local daycare, a gap attributed to the director’s limited educational background. The applicant's extensive qualifications and commitment to quality education position Homeplace uniquely in the market, aiming to significantly contribute to early childhood education in the metro Atlanta area.

Business Plan
The goal for the business is to be one of the best daycares in Douglasville and eventually open additional locations in the surrounding area. Most daycares are not owned and operated by school leaders. I have been a teacher, school leader, and consultant for 20 years in K-12 education and just recently completed my doctorate in educational leadership. Additionally, I have 3 children of my own and understand the needs of families to have access to quality childcare. This means that I am intimately familiar with creating not only a safe space for children, but a learning environment where children are growing. I understand how critical the birth - 5 years are for children and can successfully invest families, and teachers into ensuring that each child is receiving the best education possible. By creating this type of environment, I believe that not only will Homeplace be one of the best daycare centers in Douglasville, but will also make a larger impact on early childhood education in the metro Atlanta area.

Self Identified Competition
A quick search of Douglasville daycares brings up The Children's Courtyard of Douglasville, Chapel Hill Academy, and Sunshine House of Douglasville. Each of these daycares would accept children the same ages as Homeplace Learning Center and have established locations. My own children attended The Children's Courtyard of Douglasville as pre-K students and while they were safe, they did not enter Kindergarten on grade level as a result of their everyday attendance at the center. From my observations as a parent, this was in large part due to the lack of teaching and school leadership experience of the center's director.
