Ryor Properties, LLC | Application Preview

Ryor Properties, LLC is seeking government grants to support their newly expanded venture, Pet Passages, which specializes in dignified pet cremation services. The company aims to help pet parents honor and celebrate their pets' lives with compassion and exceptional customer care. They plan to achieve profitability by the end of the second quarter, targeting over 300 clients in their first year.

In their business plan, Ryor Properties anticipates initial monthly sales of $4,350, projecting growth to $44,750 by the end of their first year. The requested funding will assist with startup costs, helping them establish a solid market presence.

The company is led by Sam Johnson, who has deep personal connections to the pet memorialization field through his family's history in funeral services. His experiences have fostered a strong understanding of grief and the importance of honoring pets as family members.

In terms of competition, the local market features limited options for dedicated pet cremation services, with none located within 20 miles of their site. Ryor Properties plans to differentiate itself through a focus on customer support and by building partnerships with local pet-oriented organizations, ensuring exceptional service for pet parents in their community.

  • Business Plan

We are committed to helping pet parents remember and celebrate their pet’s life and legacy. Our service and compassion will guide our pet parents and provide comfort, understanding, and exceptional customer care. A pet’s love is no small gesture, saying good-bye should not be either. Beginning in our first operating month, we anticipate $4,350 in sales. As we market and grow our customer base, we have projected that in month 12 we will have increased those sales to $44,750. The annual goal is for the business to be profitable by the end of the second quarter, servicing more than 300 pet parents in the first year. This will enable Pet Passages to have a solid foothold in the market and begin to expand. Growing up in a family of servant leaders, Mr. Johnson’s father, Jimmy Johnson, managed a family-owned funeral home for more than 40 years. In early 2000s, Jimmy saw a need to serve pet parents and opened a small pet cremation service in Lenoir City, TN. Sam Johnson served alongside his father throughout his childhood before leaving for the military in 2001, and worked with his father when he returned home on leave. In 2015, Sam Johnson left the active-duty military and spent the remaining time he could with his father, Jimmy, who passed away from cancer in 2016. As a lifetime pet parent, Mr. Johnson and his family see pets as a member of their family. Pets do so much for us. We want to remember those family members the same way we would any loved one. Utilizing his extensive knowledge and experience in grief and loss, while simultaneously being a pet parent himself, he is uniquely qualified to lead a much-needed service in the pet memorialization and cremation business.

  • Self Identified Competition

Alternatives primarily consist of local pet disposal companies, crematoriums, and funeral homes that also provide pet crematory services. There are fewer than a half-dozen locations in the Greater Metro Charlotte area that provide dedicated pet cremation services. None of these pet specific crematory services are located within 20 miles of our location and none of those offer the customer support services that are included in our business model. Moreover, the few competitors in the local market do not cater specifically to pet funeral and cremation services. They offer both human and pet cremation services, vice focusing on solely the pet parents. We intend to be immediately competitive in the market, with emphasis on exceptional customer service. We will build a significant customer base comprised of pet parents first. We will grow and develop this base and the trust we have with pet parents by working with pet community partners that include veterinarians, pet hospitals, humane societies, rescue shelters, pet boarding, pet grooming, and other businesses that cater to pets and pet services.
