Indigo Event Space and Lounge LLC | Application Preview

Indigo Event Space and Lounge LLC is seeking government grants to enhance its operations in Carbondale, Illinois. The funding will be allocated towards staffing, marketing, and renovations of the building.

The business has a five-year growth plan centered on three key objectives: expanding staffing to accommodate increased operating hours from 20 to 40 hours per week, refurbishing the venue, and boosting marketing efforts to attract a wider audience. Part of the expansion includes adding unique menu items and entertainment options, like live music, to create a distinct experience for customers. Additionally, the business aims to introduce outdoor dining and a beer garden to enhance the dining atmosphere.

The grant proposal emphasizes Indigo's status as a minority-owned business, highlighting its commitment to offering southern cuisine and creating a welcoming environment for young professionals and community members. The owner believes that supporting Indigo will contribute to the local economy and help revitalize the downtown area.

In terms of competition, Indigo faces three main rivals: Tres Hombres, Global Gourmet, and The Cellar. While these competitors are established in the area, Indigo positions itself as a fresh option that has thrived despite challenges, including operating during a pandemic and overcoming community stigmas related to its previous ownership.
