The 101 Grille | Epping 612006176 | Government Grant Application

The 101 Grille | Epping | Application Preview

The 101 Grille in Epping is applying for government grants to sustain its operations during the slower winter months, specifically December through February when customer traffic and field rentals significantly decrease due to winter sports downtime. The funding aims to ensure timely payment for employees and bills, maintaining stability in a challenging season.

The restaurant has a strong partnership with Seacoast United Sports and its parent company, 3Step Sports, which is expanding its presence in New Hampshire. The 101 Grille plans to grow alongside them, with a quick-serve concession stand opening in Hampton in Summer 2023 and potential future opportunities within their sports complexes.

The importance of securing this funding stems from the restaurant's commitment to paying its employees competitive wages, despite being a smaller establishment. By investing in their team, they have cultivated a skilled workforce that contributes to a seasonal menu emphasizing locally-sourced ingredients.

In terms of competition, The 101 Grille faces challenges from three main local competitors: The Holy Grail, Lexi's Burgers, and Applebee's. However, its unique approach to creating an inclusive atmosphere, alongside a focus on community involvement and a high-quality dining experience, sets it apart. The Grille aims to foster connection among guests and enhance the local community by promoting fair work practices and participating in community initiatives.

  • Funding Usage

We plan to use this funding to maintain operations through our slower winter months. We are heavily reliant on the traffic that comes through the sports complex, and field rentals decrease significantly in December, January, and February. We want to ensure that we can consistently pay our employees and ensure that invoices are paid on time, even during this short season where we see sales dip.

  • Business Plan

We have a great relationship with our landlord, Seacoast United Sports, and their mother company, 3Step Sports. 3Step plans to continue expanding their reach throughout New Hampshire, and we plan to expand with them. We already have plans to open a quick-serve concession stand at one of their locations in Hampton in Summer 2023, and as other food service opportunities arise within their sports complexes, we will seek to fill those positions. We are a family-owned business that highly values respect and integrity, both in customer relations and in the workplace. Truthfully, part of the reason we are seeking grant money is because we have made the decision to pay our employees higher wages than might be necessary for a restaurant of our size and style. We've built a high-quality team of managers and employees who share our vision, and we believe it's worthwhile to invest in them through high pay and respectful treatment in the workplace. Our team has developed an excellent menu that changes seasonally and uses as many locally-sourced ingredients as possible.

  • Self Identified Competition

Locally, our top 3 competitors are The Holy Grail, Lexi's Burgers, and Applebees. We seek to create a space where everyone belongs, connecting over great food and drink. We desire to go beyond the tangible by using our creative and seasonal dishes and beverages to offer connection and inclusion to all guests and staff members. We also wish to extend past our doors to benefit our local community by creating a stable, fair work environment and participating in events and efforts that support community members.
