U.S 2 Borderland Drywall N/A | Government Grant Application

U.S 2 Borderland Drywall | Application Preview

Borderland Drywall is seeking government grants to secure funding for the purchase of a building that will serve as a warehouse, training center, and office space. The funding will also support the acquisition of vehicles for material delivery and removal, as well as scaffolding and a scissors lift to ensure safety for workers operating at heights.

The business aims to develop a training program for young workers, helping them acquire valuable skills in professional trades. The establishment of a small warehouse and learning center will facilitate the recruitment and training of new construction workers, preparing them for successful careers in the industry.

The justification for the funding stems from the growing shortage of skilled tradespersons, as society increasingly encourages youth to pursue college degrees. Many skilled workers are nearing retirement, leading to a rising demand for a new generation of tradespeople. The initiative seeks to create opportunities for young individuals to thrive in trades, ensuring a stable workforce for the community.

In terms of competition, few drywall and finishing businesses exist in the area, and many of the current professionals are also approaching retirement. Borderland Drywall's competitive advantage lies in the experience of its owner, a retired firefighter with a background in trades since 1988. The focus is on fostering a younger workforce to strengthen local communities.

  • Business Plan

Over the next several years I plan to train Young workers to learn a professional trade for life. Utilizing their skills to produce finishes in homes and businesses. Having a small warehouse and learning center would provide us with the means to recruit and train new construction workers and introduce them to work place Our society has directed our youth to go to college to such a degree that skilled trades persons are becoming scarce. Most of our professional workers are aging and nearing their retirement age with few young skilled workers to take over. The demand for skilled trades workers is increasing . We need to create a platform for those choosing to enter the trades with the means to excell.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are currently only a few drywallers/ finishers this area. They are individuals who are themselves starting to reach the age to start looking at retirement I am a retired firefighter who has also been in the trades since 1988. I am focused more on creating a younger work force to provide our local communities with a stable workforce.
