The Gutter General | Application Preview
The Gutter General is seeking government grants to enhance employee retention, improve marketing and advertising efforts, and establish a dedicated office and storage space. The business aims to expand its offerings to include Christmas light installations, siding, and repairs over the next five years, with a goal of operating 2-3 full-time crews managing multiple projects simultaneously.
The applicant highlights his background as a Native American Veteran and lifelong Oklahoma resident who has faced significant personal and professional challenges. After nine years of military service and experiences in the oil industry, he has transitioned to the gutter business, where he learned from his father-in-law, who runs a longstanding gutter company. Despite setbacks, including losing his home to a fire, he has successfully built his own company from the ground up, securing contracts and maintaining a steady workflow through personal effort.
In terms of competition, the applicant identifies several other local gutter companies. His competitive advantage lies in his commitment to quality and customer service, focusing on delivering high standards of work rather than competing on price. He believes that his personal dedication and experience position him well to succeed, but he requires additional support to achieve the growth he envisions for his business.

Business Plan
In 5 years, I would like to have at least 2-3 full time crews running. Being able to have crews working on multiple projects at a time. IE gutter, car port and siding a house. I need to be able to put more money into employee retention, marketing, advertising and a hard structure company office/storage. I need more help in order to grow I’m a Native American Veteran who has lived in Oklahoma his whole life, spent 9 years serving our country. I’ve worked hard my whole life trying to provide for my family. I’ve worked in the oil field for a large majority of that and have been hit like others with lay offs and closures. During those times I worked with my father in law how has ran the longest standing gutter company in Oklahoma. We’ve had our hard times again like everyone else, but we’ve also lost our home a year ago to a fire. We purchased land to build a home on to only recently find out we might not be able to build on it due to power lines being ran on it. During this time we’ve tried to build our own company. We’ve done extremely well in our short time and by me doing it all myself. I have went out and found the business, I’ve signed contracts with roofing companies and have been able to stay busy. It’s tough doing everything yourself, sales, quotes, demo, installs, billing, etc. Then trying to make the time to market, advertise, build the company.

Self Identified Competition
Mr. Gutter Bothers that do Gutters A1 Seamless Rain Drain I’m small, I care about the work I do. I see crappy work out there every day, it’s usually the companies that have no quality control, it’s about how quick and cheap can you get this done. There are builders and companies out there that want that as well. I want to put a great product out there with my name and reputation on it. I’ve received so many referrals do to my business practice of making the customer feel like your their for them and not just making a dollar and running to the next house. I have a lot of experience in this business probably more than a lot of these companies have been around, I just haven’t had the means to be able to grow like I would like.
