One Giant Leap, Inc 84-2116825 | Government Grant Application

One Giant Leap, Inc | Application Preview

One Giant Leap, Inc. is seeking government grants to alleviate startup expenses that have maxed out their business credit cards. This financial relief would allow them to focus on repaying existing government loans, thereby stabilizing One South Main and ensuring its survival. Since opening in August 2021, One South Main has been building a customer base through social media, sales analysis, promotional events, and local community engagement.

The shop is described as a much-needed local resource, offering unique, well-curated products at reasonable prices. Customers appreciate the personal touch and superior service, especially as online shopping continues to threaten small businesses. The surrounding communities of Yardley, Newtown, and Richboro actively support local enterprises.

In terms of competition, the primary rivals include Pink Daisy, a high-end wedding gift shop, and Krysset, a new artisan store specializing in U.S.-made products. While these competitors cater to a specific, higher-income group, One South Main differentiates itself by providing quality gifts and greeting cards at more accessible price points, appealing to everyday consumers who prefer in-person shopping over online options.

  • Funding Usage

I know this amount seems high, but I truly believe if we can pay down the startup expenses that have our business credit cards at their maximum, we can focus on paying down our government loans and make One South Main stable and able to survive.

  • Business Plan

One South Main has only been open since August 2021. We continue to establish a base of customers and use social media to grow it further. We use our POS to analyze our sales and determine the most successful product lines, offer promotions to generate return business, and participate in local events to establish goodwill. So many customers tell us that our shop is exactly what small towns need. We are local, family owned and operated, carrying unique and well thought out products at reasonable prices. While online shopping has its conveniences, it is driving so many small businesses out of business. We recognize this and seek to be the place where customers can come get greeting cards, unique gifts, and superior customer service. The Yardley, Newtown, and Richboro areas still embrace small business and support local shops.

  • Self Identified Competition

Pink Daisy - this store has been a high end shop focused on wedding gifts. It is the most established gift shop in Yardley. Krysset - a new local artisan gift shop, also higher end, who only sells US made goods. Beyond those two, there are small shops in Lahaska and Newtown, but none that I know by name. The two primary competitors within Yardley borough are selling high end products, appealing to a specific income group. We have been building a reputation as a store that has quality greeting cards and gifts, at reasonable prices. Our prices can range from 15.00 to 150.00 rather than starting above 50.00. We appeal to the everyday consumer and to those that do not want to shop online.
