OMVI Architecture LLC | Application Preview
OMVI Architecture LLC is seeking government grants to fund equipment rentals and cover various expenses as it works to expand its client base and enhance its reputation. The firm is currently engaged in commissions with the Salmagundi Club and the Episcopal Parish of Calvary-St. George's, two historically significant organizations in Manhattan. Completing these projects may open doors for future collaborations as both clients have additional building work planned.
The business aims to specialize in surveying historic buildings while also pursuing municipal surveys and exploring opportunities for office-to-residential conversions in New York City. Extensive research indicates that scaling this business is both feasible and profitable, particularly given the rising real estate prices and projected population growth in the city.
Funding would not only support the preservation of NYC's historic architecture but also contribute to its modernization. The local real estate market presents numerous opportunities for surveying work, suggesting a sustainable demand for the business.
OMVI Architecture faces competition from established surveying firms, but the current clients have shown a preference for the applicant's services. The firm also aims to collaborate with start-up measuring equipment manufacturers to develop innovative tools needed for their projects. The applicant’s architectural experience and the strong support from historical organizations provide a significant competitive advantage, reinforcing the reputation needed to succeed in this industry.

Business Plan
The current commissions are for Salmagundi Club, a 140+ year-old social club based on 5th Ave, Manhattan, and the Episcopal Parish of Calvary-St. George's. https://salmagundi.org/building-tour-2/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._George%27s_Episcopal_Church_(Manhattan) After the successful completion of the first two commissions (which may lead to further work with the clients as both have further building works planned) it would be the aim of the business to continue surveying historic buildings, but begin seeking municipal surveys as well as commercializing measuring equipment and proposing office-to-residential conversions in New York City. Extensive research with individuals in the respective industries has revealed both a feasibility and profitability in achieving the scaling goals. New York City is a global city with real estate prices continuing to increase and its population, as published by the city, projected only to increase in the coming decades Investing in the business would be investing in the preservation and futureproofing of such a city's historic built environment, but also in its futureproofing. Given the density of the city, with the correct growth of such a business, there may be far from a shortage of projects to be completed.

Self Identified Competition
Established surveying businesses in the city (the current clients have expressed that they would prefer that the applicant perform the commission - such competitors may become collaborators in the future) Start-up measuring equipment manufacturers (proof of concept for desired non-invasive tool has existed but still cannot record the information needed, e.g. thickness of a foundation of a 170 year old building - Department of Buildings has no records) And other businesses, which having the right contacts has gotten this business the preference currently The two current commissions mentioned above have both independently expressed their preference that the applicant perform the commission than an external company. This, and in context with the history and historical significance of the organizations' members, is a significant token for a new business In addition, the applicant's past architectural experience can be demonstrated through the portfolio, as well as the nature of the current business's products. In many regards the motivation to begin an independent business has been a result of experience in various building types and the confidence that has been accrued over time in working on and the completion of such projects If architecture is an industry built on reputation, the individuals involved in the projects have been supportive to a degree which may surpass expectations and have helped to further push the applicant to this position
