Sights & Sounds, LLC Sights & Sounds, LLC | Government Grant Application

Sights & Sounds, LLC | Application Preview

Sights & Sounds, LLC is seeking government grants to support various initiatives including equipment and software purchases, website development, marketing efforts, and additional supplies.

The company plans to establish a brick-and-mortar shop in a bustling downtown area within the next six months. This space will function not only as a retail location but also as a venue, speak easy, and art gallery. The goal is to foster community engagement and business growth. In three years, the vision includes constructing a 3500-4000 square foot building that will house the store on the first floor and an Airbnb on the second floor, specifically catering to traveling musicians performing at the venue. This concept aims to create a unique experience akin to a house concert and eventually expand with more locations across the country, tailored to each market.

The need for funding is underscored by the intention to address industry challenges, including job creation and enhancing social inclusion in the community. The business model has generated considerable excitement and anticipation among potential customers, and a franchise model is envisioned for the future.

In terms of competition, Sights & Sounds will compete against two local music stores and Guitar Center. Unlike its competitors, which focus solely on retail, Sights & Sounds offers comprehensive services including instrument repairs, a venue for live events, and a community art space. With Guitar Center's recent bankruptcy and potential closure, the business sees an opportunity to fill a gap in the market.

What sets Sights & Sounds apart is its commitment to providing services that are currently lacking in the area, particularly instrument repair. The company plans to create an engaging environment where customers can observe instrument building and interact with builders. Additionally, it will offer apprenticeships to encourage community members to learn new skills and connect with the music scene.

  • Business Plan

I plan to open up a brick and mortar shop for easy access to customers in a heavily populated downtown area in the next 6 months. This shop will also serve as a venue space, speak easy and art gallery. Through this multi faceted space, we will have opportunity to grow the community and our business. After 3 years, we will build a 3500-4000sqft house in which the first floor is the public store and the 2nd floor is a separated Airbnb. This apartment style, exterior accessed Airbnb will provided a space for traveling musicians to stay as they are touring, granted they play a show at the shop downstairs. This gives a more literal meaning to a house concert. After a couple of years, we open more of these houses throughout the country. At this point, the architecture of the house, the art, furniture and guitar work will be curated to each market. Each house will be individualized yet still be under the same LLC. There are multiple problems in the industry we'll be creating solutions for. We will be providing more jobs to the public as well as growing social inclusion within the community. This business model is one of a kind and something that has built a lot of anticipation to its presence in the community. After a few years there will be franchising opportunities.

  • Self Identified Competition

Our top competitors are 2 local music stores and Guitar Center. These local stores are strictly retail shops, whereas we are a repair/custom shop, venue, speak easy and art galley. Guitar center went bankrupt in 2021 so they've been hurting in our area. I foresee them closing shop in the next 3 years. Our business is different because there are no proper repair shops for musical instruments in our area. The music scene is growing and we will provide another venue space for live music/other events. Community development is very important in our city, so we are offering another space to develop the socialization of the arts community. Our workbenches will be set up on the sales floor so you can watch the building process of an instrument and have a conversation with the builders. We will also offer apprenticeships to the public so others can learn a new skill and build their own instrument!
