CakeByThePoundOC, LLC. | Application Preview

CakeByThePoundOC, LLC is seeking government grants to facilitate the growth and operational needs of their baking business. The funding will contribute to several key areas: commercial protection insurance, advertising, utility expenses, and the purchase of necessary items. It will also support upgrades to both baking and office spaces, enhancing efficiency and professionalism, while allowing for savings towards unexpected maintenance or repairs.

The business has a five-year plan to generate sufficient revenue to establish a cozy storefront in the community, where customers can enjoy baked goods, coffee, and ice cream in a welcoming environment. The aim is to create a space reminiscent of a cherished home, offering comfort and connection.

The application emphasizes a commitment to community service, including hosting baking classes and providing job opportunities for local youth. The owner envisions the establishment as a heartwarming gathering place, much like a beloved family member's kitchen.

In terms of competition, the business faces rivals in the extravagant cake market and well-known franchises specializing in cupcakes and bundt cakes. However, CakeByThePoundOC sets itself apart by focusing on scratch-made products that evoke nostalgia, particularly through their specialty in pound cakes. The business's unique offerings foster a sense of warmth and love, appealing to customers for various occasions and meals.

It will also be used to upgrade baking and office space that is used in order to function more proficiently and professionally. I will also, be able to save to aid in any maintenance or emergency business repairs that may be acquired unexpectantly.

  • Business Plan

In the next five years I hope to create enough revenue to move into a small and cozy storefront where I am able to bake, sale and house my products within my community where customers can come and enjoy a regular cup of coffee or a scoop of ice cream with a delicious piece of homemade sweets while working, meeting, or just taking a moment from a long hard day. It is my dream for my business to be one of the many intricate and vital parts of my community. I wish to be able to serve the less fortunate, host basic baking classes to students and future culinary artists in the making, as well as being able to provide opportunities for youth to work in the service industry. I would like for my place of establishment to be the place that smells and feels like my customers have just stepped into that favorite grandmother's or aunt's home who enjoy keeping a special treat on the table for you to grab. I would also like to be able to rent out my space to those home bakers that may need a larger work space, when their basic kitchen will not be large enough to handle those rare large orders.

  • Self Identified Competition

I would say my top competitors would be those that are in the baking business of doing extravagant/elegant/themed cakes. Their profits easily come from being able to charge significant amounts of dollars for extravagant and detailed cakes. My other competitors would also consist of the franchised cupcake and bundt cake companies. What makes my business different is that most of my products are scratch made, and solely focus on baking pound cakes and other variety of cakes that your grandmother and mother used to bake when you were a child. My desserts create a feeling of love and warmth through every bite. It can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and any occasion.
