Low Country Foods dba Southern Rail | Application Preview
Low Country Foods, operating as Southern Rail, is seeking government grants to recuperate from the business impacts of COVID-19. The funds will be utilized to recover lost business revenue, attract qualified labor through wage incentives, and improve operational margins affected by supply and product issues.
The business is located in Central Phoenix, utilizing a mix of historic architecture and new construction. They aim to return to pre-pandemic staffing levels and resume daily service for lunch and dinner. Additionally, they plan to enhance marketing efforts and strengthen community ties.
Southern Rail, which is the second concept of the owners who also run Beckett's Table, boasts over 100 years of combined experience in the restaurant and hospitality sectors. The owners are deeply invested, being co-owners of the property they lease at the Newton, indicating their commitment to long-term operation.
The restaurant faces competition from local establishments such as The Oak, The Gladly, and Windsor. However, Southern Rail differentiates itself by offering unique, seasonal Southern cuisine inspired by various regional cooking styles and complemented by a robust wine and bourbon selection.

Business Plan
Our location in Central Phoenix is an adaptive re-use of historical mid-century architecture and recent new build in our in-fill have birthed multi-family and luxury apartment living surrounding our location. The plan is to staff to pre-pandemic levels and open back to 7-days a week, lunch & dinner. Explore more marketing, signage, and re-establish our connection with the community. We are a second concept, nearing 9 years old. Our original concept Beckett's Table, is just over 12 years old in Arcadia. We are both owners and daily operators/managers, as an accredited chef and two active sommeliers from two husband & wife teams. We have over 100 years of combined experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Additionally, we co-own (20%) of the property which we lease from located at the Newton. We are here for the long haul.

Self Identified Competition
The Oak (gastro-pub), The Gladly (bistro), Windsor (neighborhood spot) We offer seasonal, locally sourced Southern rich cuisine. Classic flavors with inspiration from the Low Country cooking of the Carolina's, through the Mississippi Delta, Creole flare from New Orleans, and Texas roadhouse cooking. This all combined with an extensive wine list and a very deep Bourbon/Whiskey offering.
