Business Plan
By building a larger shop I can service the local dairy industry better, and other businesses in the food industry that need specialized sanitary welding. Already this business is growing and is a registered dairy equipment installer with welding experience and certifications not offered by other welder/fabricators in the area. Other ways I plan on growing are by improving our website and advertising. Also, by expanding to other markets needing stainless and specialized welding services such as harbors and boat maintenance centered around Lake Champlain which I have already started. I, Mathew Koskinen, the owner, have welding and fabrication experience and certifications that many in my field do not. After four years in the Marine Corps, I used my GI bill to attend a welding school in Mississippi and after traveled for years welding in live oil refineries, nuclear power plants, and more. I came home to northern NY state and the Adirondack Mountains to raise my family with the intent of raising my sons at home without having to travel away from my family. I joined the pipe fitters union and welded for them but had to continuously travel. I decided to start my own business to able to stay close to home and began by installing sample ports in close to 100 milk trailers all over northern NY state (see mkspecialtywelding.com) These unique ports help keep the drivers from climbing to the top of the trailer to get a milk sample for the milk and cheese plants that they deliver too. So, I have the ability to do specialized onsite fabrication which other businesses like me don't. I have worked on dairy plants and farms and hauling equipment since 2017 and there are virtually no businesses like me in my area. I have always worked hard and have wanted to do something unique with my talents. Now I live and am based in a challenging area (the Adirondacks) where I built my house and shop with my own hands but where power for the shop will be very costly to install. I would like to run the first green welding and fabrication shop in NY state that runs from solar and wind and am asking for help in this endeavor. Also to have a shop of this kind in northern New York State will be unique and cut down on travel for dairy haulers and farmers and plants to have equipment repaired.

Self Identified Competition
LWI Metalworks 76 Houle Ave. Morristown, VT They are a business that does work on dairy trailers but because they are far and in a different state. Many times dairy haulers will call me to do the work onsite so they don't have to lose time and fuel bringing there trailers to Vermont. But they have a large shop to do work that sometimes I cannot do. TNT Welding 32 Loughlin Rd Kirkwood, NY Located on the southern border of NY state it is virtually the only welding shop that does work on stainless milk trailers in NY state, but is very far from northern NY haulers and businesses. Because they are the only one, milk haulers must transport trailers to this shop, losing weeks and a lot of fuel and drivers who could be transporting milk. UDMC 301 Meyer Rd. Buffalo, NY A sanitary custom welding and fabrication business that services dairy and cheese plants in my area of northern Ny but are located far away in western NY. They are a large company and are very expensive for smaller farmers and cheese plants in northern New York State. Because, I can do work onsite and do small projects cost effectively makes me attractive and very different from other companies that can offer the same services that I offer. I also have a lot off experience in high pressure steam and other process piping systems from my previous experience that companies that only offer sanitary welding cannot. For this reason I can do steam and other fabrication projects in the small plants that solely sanitary welding companies cannot. Because I aim rurally located in the Adirondacks I am close to small farms and businesses that don't have access to sanitary and dairy equipment services, installation, and fabrication. But also because of this I am asking for help to have a renewable energy source for my business, and to market my self in a way that is attractive for other businesses interested in using renewable, solar, wind, and clean energy to run and maintain there businesses.
