Eco-Minded | Application Preview
Eco-Minded is seeking government grants to support payroll and inventory management as part of their growth strategy. The business aims to expand by providing quality, locally produced eco-friendly products. Due to the absence of an advertising budget, they utilize a rewards program and emphasize word-of-mouth marketing, supplemented by an emerging social media presence and participation in local trade shows.
The rationale for funding is rooted in their commitment to sustainability, offering products that are recyclable, reusable, and made from natural or organic materials. Eco-Minded operates in a college town with a population of 70,000, which harbors a community keen on environmentally conscious living. They believe additional funding can enhance their impact in the local market.
While facing minimal local competition primarily from online retailers, Eco-Minded is confident that consumers will appreciate the benefits of locally sourced goods, particularly in reducing excessive packaging and transportation emissions. Their competitive edge lies in their mission to lower their carbon footprint amid growing concerns about landfill waste and non-biodegradable materials.

Business Plan
I want to grow by offering quality, locally produced products. We don't have an advertising budget, so we offer a rewards program and rely heavily on word of mouth. We are getting some traction on social media which will help draw new customers. We are doing some local trade type shows as well. Our business is retail of products that are eco-friendly, recyclable, reusable, and/or made from natural or organic ingredients. There are a lot of online presence in this field, but not very many brick an mortar stores. We are in a college town (pop. 70k) with a strong population of like minded people. We are at the cusp of making a difference and some additional funds would help considerably.

Self Identified Competition
There are few competitors in the area. Most are online competitors. We are hoping people see the value in locally sourced products and reduction of the sheer amount of packaging and shipping (many from different locations) and emissions from the delivery vehicles involved. We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint in an era where landfills are overflowing and products are being made that do not degrade or compost for hundreds of years.
