  • Funding Usage

We have numerous plans for fundings but our main usage would be to assist with opening up our new restaurant/bar called "The Press Room." We plan to use the funds to help fix the kitchen, bar, and serving area. We need to invest in equipment such as commercial refrigerators, grills, ice makers, shelves, prep tables, cutleries, plates, glasses, bar stools, tables, and chairs to name a few. Our new restaurant/bar would be located in the historic Journal Printing Company Building in downtown Kirksville, Missouri. This historic building used to be an actual printing company, as to why we have decided to name our restaurant/bar, “The Press Room.” We are preserving as much of the history as we can at The Press Room with period-authentic decor, photos from when it operated, and a real printing press that was used in the original business. We wanted to offer this small rural community of Kirksville an exciting new place to dine and wine. We have hired staff who are all locals and hope to boost the local economy with our new small business venture.

  • Business Plan

There are countless ways that we plan to grow our business in the next 5 years. One, we have a large back room at our new restaurant/bar and we plan to turn that room into a dance/night club. Currently, Kirksville, MO and its surrounding towns of 50 mile radius has no dance or night club. There are two higher education institutes in Kirksville, MO, Truman State University and A.T. Still University. These universities are boasting with college and med students who are ready to drink, party, and dance the night away. Two, we plan on turning the night club area or bar area into an event space for rentals. We currently have college students and locals contacting us for spaces to rent for meetings, dances, parties, and corporate events. The Press Room can house up to 100 people. Third, we plan to add periodic signature cocktails for our bar and limited time food specials for the restaurant. Once our dance/night club opens, we would like to host different events like country line dancing night, bar Olympics, open mic night, or book a small concert. These are some of the few ideas that we have in mind and they will surely attract more patrons and customers to ensure an increase in revenue. Investors should consider investing in our business because we are a small business owned by four women who met in college at Truman State University. Not only are we a woman-owned business but we are also a minority-owned business, as we have one partner who is African American and one is Asian. Our diversity will give us an advantage in networking and meeting new partners. Furthermore, our new restaurant/bar would be located in the historic Journal Printing Company Building in downtown Kirksville, Missouri. • Self Identified Competition

    1) The Dukum Inn - a local bar in downtown Kirksville, MO. They used to serve food but not anymore. They are known to treat their employees poorly and their main chef and bar manager of over 10 years have recently walked out on them. 2) The Hurricane Haven - another local bar and grill in downtown Kirksville, MO. Actually, a fun bar as they offer a beach and Luaa party vibe the whole time. 3) Sip Downtown - a small cute place in downtown Kirksville, MO that serves handcrafted cocktails, wines, and small plates in a sophisticated and cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, they close early and do not have the capacity to host big crowds. There are numerous things that make us different from our competitors. First, we are a small business that is owned by all women and minorities. Our diversity will give us an advantage in networking and meeting new partners. Finally, The Press Room has the capacity to host a nightclub, event rental space, and concert venue that can house up 100 people. The other competitors have a small space.
