Designs By Day LLC 83-2983582 | Government Grant Application

Designs By Day LLC | Application Preview

Designs By Day LLC is seeking government grants to enhance its operations and community impact. The funding will primarily focus on three areas: maintaining the business workshop, acquiring materials and venues for spring and summer educational classes aimed at teaching grade school students how to design and tend their own gardens, and investing in advertising and supplies that enhance the aesthetic appeal of commercial planters, thereby contributing to economic growth in Des Moines.

The business plan aims for significant growth in the commercial sector by providing attractive landscaping solutions for local businesses. Additionally, the company intends to run camps and classes that teach children valuable skills related to gardening, promoting self-esteem and financial savings through growing their own food. There is also a plan to hire more employees, obtain another vehicle, and invest in essential equipment.

Approval of this funding is justified by the owner’s commitment to community enrichment as a local, female entrepreneur and mother. She believes that enhancing the local landscape can positively affect community perception and well-being. The request emphasizes the need for financial support to expand advertising efforts and boost business, thereby contributing to the local economy.

The competitive landscape includes larger, nonlocal landscaping companies that draw business away from local firms, as well as homeowners who prefer DIY landscaping. Inflation poses an additional challenge, affecting prices and profitability in the industry. Designs By Day distinguishes itself by reinvesting in the community through educational programs and positioning itself as an affordable, knowledgeable, and passionate service provider dedicated to local growth.

  • Business Plan

I plan on excelling my business on the commercial side dramatically through appealing to businesses and local companies and their need to have an attractive landscape and/or containers around their facility. I would also create camps/educational classes for school age children to enhance their learning in how to build, plant, & grow. This requires focus, discipline, & gives opportunity for self esteem, achievements & saving money by growing your own food. I plan to accrue a couple more employees and another company vehicle and more essential small equipment. Because I am a mother & local female owned business owner with the dream and desire to help my community in any way I can and the feel the responsibility to do so. Having a beautiful landscape and flowers on a property can change the way people perceive the environment . It makes people happy and and that is so important in todays world, especially with our future generations. Unfortunately, with a small business, money is needed to achieve certain things and to grow in certain areas. This assistance would change my abilities to become more active in my advertising and therefore, create more business, contributing to the economy in my own way.

  • Self Identified Competition

My top 3 competitors are big nonlocal landscape companies that gain business from small local businesses; this takes away from small businesses like mine, that put money back into the community. My other competitors are homeowners that do their own landscape work. Another competitor is inflation! With the price increase of gas, materials, products, it is difficult to be profitable! I am different because I would put the money back into the community by conducting the instructional programs. Also, I am an affordable, experienced , professional, and motivated business owner that truly loves her town and what she does!!
