Sleepy Moon Designs, LLC | Application Preview
Sleepy Moon Designs, LLC is applying for government grants to acquire machinery for various aspects of their production, including sublimation, vinyl transfers, and apparel design transfers. They plan to purchase high-quality materials like beads, exotic woods, luxury leathers, and maintenance parts for their equipment. The funding will also cover high-end packaging, online business subscriptions, and shipping costs.
The business aims to expand by constructing a new manufacturing warehouse on land they already own, which will enhance their market reach and demographic capabilities. They intend to establish strong relationships with vendors supplying exotic woods and other materials, fostering long-term partnerships that benefit multiple businesses.
The owner, a lifelong Oregon resident, expresses a commitment to improving both their family’s life and the local community, aiming to inspire others by demonstrating that success is achievable in Oregon.
In terms of competition, the primary challenge comes from China, which offers lower-priced alternatives but lacks the quality that Sleepy Moon Designs provides. Additionally, home-based businesses and larger companies that outsource may compete in the same market, yet the company stands out with its unique, high-end products and personalized service. They believe their focus on artisan products and local sales avenues gives them a competitive edge over larger, impersonal wholesalers.

Business Plan
We'd like to expand and build a warehouse on land we have already acquired. This new manufacturaing facility will help up grow our demographic capabilities and be able to reach more markets. We'd also like to create solid relationships with exotic wood vendors and other product material vendors that will ensure longterm success and symbiotic relationships that help multiple businesses. I am a lifelong Oregonian and I am invested in creating a better life for my family and to make a positive impact on my community. My dream is to lead by example and show people that Oregon is prosperous and if you dream it, you can do it.

Self Identified Competition
In our market, our number 1 competitor is China. They don't have the quality that we offer so we haven't become discouraged when they use designs and make cheaper versions. We stand by our products and know we have an edge. Our number 2 competitor is other at home businesses whom offer products in the same industry but again, we know we have unique and higher end products and are happy to share the market. Our number 3 competitor would be big companies who outsource and sell at wholesale prices. However, we are still able to make money using various local avenues. China doesn't have the quality that we offer so we haven't become discouraged when they use designs and make cheaper versions. We stand by our products and know we have an edge. Other at home businesses whom offer products in the same industry are different because we know we have unique and higher end products and are happy to share the market. Big companies who outsource and sell at wholesale prices aren't personal, so we are still able to make money because we cater to those who are looking for personalized artisan products that are harder to find. We also are using various local avenues to sell that big companies haven't tapped yet.
