Roots Golden LLC | Application Preview
Roots Golden LLC is seeking government grant funding to enhance marketing efforts and improve their visibility locally and online. The anticipated funding would allow them to organize events aimed at increasing foot traffic and establishing a strong customer base. Additionally, they plan to relocate their store to a more prominent space that would attract more visitors, while also providing better compensation for their team to enhance employee retention.
The company has aspirations to expand beyond Golden, potentially opening new locations in Boulder or Colorado Springs. They aim to increase their purchasing power to improve profit margins while maintaining high-quality standards. Employing sufficient staff for local markets and events is also a goal.
Roots Golden LLC is a family-owned business, split equally between female and Native American ownership. Led by Nenada, who has experience in business expansion through her other venture, Old Barrel Tea Company, they emphasize ethical practices and fostering a positive work environment. The current slow season poses challenges, but they are confident in their growth potential.
In terms of competition, they face challenges from large retailers like Amazon, which possess significant buying power. However, they differentiate themselves through the unique in-store experience they offer, emphasizing quality products, strong customer service, and a memorable shopping atmosphere.

Funding Usage
If we could be awarded this grant, we could move put some spend into marketing efforts locally and online to help drive traffic to our business. We could plan a few events to help drive awareness and foot traffic. Once we can build more of an initial base, we know we have amazing quality and that we could retain our guests. Additionally, we could physically move our store to a front space on the walking area where we would see WAY more traffic as we are currently in a collab space (smooshed in the middle of two other businesses). This would also allow us to provide a little more pay to each of our team members to successfully help with retention.

Business Plan
Ideally, we would love to grow in Golden so that we can open another location in Boulder or Colorado Springs. We would obviously love to increase our buying power so we can maximize our margins and ensure we stick to our standards for quality. We would also like to be able to employee enough staff so we can do local markets, events, etc. We are a family business, 50% female owned, 50% Native American owned. We love the business and customer service world. I (Nenada) have another business concept called Old Barrel Tea Company that started as one shop in Ruidoso, NM, and has now expanded to eight stores. I know how to grow a business and how to be an ethical and kind employer to create a positive work environment and generate retention. This model, Roots, is newer and just needs a little love behind. These are the slowest months in our area, so getting through a hard slow season, we know we will thrive endlessly!

Self Identified Competition
Amazon and any large retailer because we are mom/pop and we cannot ever achieve the buying power they have. We can provide an amazing experience, which one felt, people come back for. But off the bat, we do not and will not have the pricing they can give consumers. Our store is an experience, from the minute you walk in. We are thoughtfully sourcing our products, curating an amazing team of humans who will provide genuine care in every interaction, and ensuring our guests go home remembering how they felt in our shop and wanting to replicate it.
