GOLDENHEART CHURROS | Application Preview
GOLDENHEART CHURROS is seeking government grants to fund the purchase of a commercial oven, a proofer, and two front glass display cases. The business plan consists of three key components: operating two venues during the summer, opening a small bakery/Kolache shop in the fall, and offering catering services for businesses and private parties. The founder, who is a native, aims to secure contracts to provide food for native events, emphasizing a commitment to the community.
The reason for approving the funding stems from a strong demand for unique Kolaches within the region. The founder is passionate about baking and envisions her shop as a supportive environment where she can help other women discover their passions in the culinary world. After years focused on family, she is ready to pursue her dream and hopes it can inspire others.
In terms of competition, the business plans to offer recipes that are currently unavailable in the Fairbanks area, positioning itself to effectively capture the local market. A location near Ft. Wainwright is sought after due to the high demand for take-out and delivery options among military personnel.
GOLDENHEART CHURROS believes it has a competitive edge as it not only offers Kolaches but also plans to bake pies, providing a unique product mix in an area lacking dedicated pie bakeries. All products will be homemade, underscoring the shop's commitment to quality. The concept has potential for a franchise model in the future.

Business Plan
I have a 3 part business plan. 2 venues this summer and in the fall, lease and open a small bakery/Kolache Shop. Catering for businesses and private parties and I am native and so hope to get native contracts for their food needs. My type of Kolaches are very popular in the states. I hope to start a small shop and want to help others start their own food business and therefore assist other women that need help finding their passion, too. Baking has always been my passion, I have just been busy raising kids and grandkids and now, I have a dream. My little dream could be others, too.

Self Identified Competition
I chose recipies that are not served in the Fairbanks area. So, I would be cornering the market, so to speak. Location near Ft. Wainwright would be ideal, since the military in my town spend alot of money on take-out and delivery foods. My little shop could be a franchise idea. I also plan on baking pies, which there are zero pie bakeries in the Fairbanks area. My products are all homemade.
