Phone Repair Awhatukee | Application Preview
Phone Repair Awhatukee is seeking government grants to support its operations, specifically aiming to cover a year’s salary for employees and prepay its lease. This financial assistance would allow the business to stabilize after significant losses suffered during the pandemic and help it focus on recovery.
The business has a five-year plan to rehire its pre-pandemic workforce of five employees and expand by opening additional locations, thus creating more job opportunities in the state.
Janel Harper, the owner’s wife and a Ph.D. candidate in clinical psychology, emphasizes the personal connection to the business and her husband’s dedication to his employees. She highlights his commitment to community service, noting his efforts to provide relief during disasters in Kentucky and Louisiana, despite suffering financial losses. Frustrated with the lack of support from the franchise CPR Cell Phone Repair during the pandemic, Janel seeks funding to help avoid further debt while completing her dissertation.
The competition includes major companies like Assurant, T-Mobile, and Apple. However, Phone Repair Awhatukee distinguishes itself by being a family-owned business that actively supports other local businesses.

Funding Usage
The use of funding will help us pay a years worth of our employee's salary and help keep the lights on. We would like to pay a full year of our lease up front to be able to focus on re-couping our loss and allowing some extra padding.

Business Plan
Within the next 5 years we would like to be able to hire back the number of employees we had before the pandemic started (5) as well as hopefully open more locations to be able to bring more job opportunities to the state. I (Janel Harper) am the wife of the man who started this business. I am currently obtaining my PH.D in clinical psychology with a specialization in forensics. He has supported my dreams to become a psychologist and now I want to give back. It has been no easy feat watching my husband's dreams collapse over the last two years due to no fault of his own. He cares for his employees and the people he employs and carries a huge weight. He would make sure his employees got paid before he paid himself a dime. During the disasters last year in Kentucky and Louisiana he went to help with the Cajun Navy in offering relief. He took a huge loss in profits but still went out to help bring back the sense of community. In the mean time leaving the franchise CPR Cell Phone Repair that did nothing to support franchisees during the pandemic. It would made all the difference to be able to present this to him, instead of going into more debt to keep it afloat while I finish my dissertation.
