Funding Usage
Mind the Class plans to launch a second population health planning project in school communities to reduce the risks to youth of developing a mental or behavioral disorder. We plan to do this by applying 3 years of research studies that produced measurable wellbeing factors proven to protect youth through environmental, situational and behavioral health planning improving mood, behavior and cognition. Our software can predict the most effective wellbeing factor solutions based on unique community risk factors, needs assessments and diverse task force interviews producing qualitative and quantitative data for further application of best-practices for greater impact. Best practices in participatory planning and systems change are applied at the grassroots level to equip and empower communities with the connections and capacity for sustainable development in public mental and behavioral health.

Business Plan
Grant funding will allow Mind the Class to publish proof of concept studies, case studies and data that can provide evidence of an effective upstream model for reducing the economic burden of disease in mental and behavioral health to communities. Mind the Class plans to use these publications and school community testimonials to obtain paid school community contracts paid for by government entities demonstrating a clear return on their investment with a proactive preventive model of care. With the revenues generated from paid contracts, Mind the Class plans to reinvest in future research and development to further our impact on wellbeing for youth to help support the development of thriving youth that become thriving adults, reducing the generational social, emotional and economic burden on communities. Mind the Class unites research, technology and community development for a socio-ecological approach to make a large impact more quickly at a lower cost than individual counseling services. We cannot stand by as the rates of mental illness, substance abuse and suicide rise. Mind the Class can envision a world in which the majority of children are mentally healthy and engage in prohealth and prosocial behaviors to become thriving adults. Right now, half of all children report chronic stress by age 14. At Mind the Class, we have completed extensive research to uncover the factors that protect children from becoming chronically stressed which leads to disorders. Our comprehensive participatory planning approach, engages the most vulnerable members of the community and reduces unique risk factors and equipping sustainable Program Ambassadors, increasing equity, accessibility and quality. We are passionate about helping children succeed, feel good, and build healthy relationships and habits. Without a proactive approach, we know that most counties have a shortage of counselors who are overburdened resulting in chronic conditions that become complex and harder to treat, at a high emotional and economic cost. This is unsustainable without also investing in preventive models building resilient communities that support all children in designing stress buffering conditions and behaviors.

Self Identified Competition
https://www.chdi.org/ https://sourcesofstrength.org/ https://www.ecmhc.org/ Direct competitors are often fully reliant on non-profit donations and grants, limiting their scope and scale. Additionally, most programs are reactive models, addressing a single problem in a single situation (i.e. a bullying problem in a single school or suicide prevention training), not shown to have a long term impact on the development of mental and behavioral disorders as a youth population. Indirect Competitors, such as social-emotional-learning models, online resource groups and non-profit mental health services are defined as alternatives to preventive systemic mental health consulting that are addressing mental health issues as an alternative to Mind the Class. They are typically well-funded, serve a high need, and provide free education and resources. They lack profitability, prevention, system-wide interventions, integrative approaches, and well-being focused proactive interventions.
