RTU Pros llc | Application Preview
RTU Pros LLC is applying for government grants to support its growth in the HVAC industry. The funds will be allocated primarily towards marketing, hiring sales personnel, improving search engine optimization, acquiring office space, and overall staffing.
Their business model prioritizes sales and operates on a financial structure that allocates 50% for gross margins, 30% for overhead (including advertising), and 20% for net profit. The owner intends to reinvest 10% of the net profit back into the business to facilitate continued expansion. Within three to five years, RTU Pros plans to explore franchise opportunities beyond its current territory in Oregon.
The owner brings 23 years of HVAC experience and has identified a gap in the market, particularly in rooftop unit service and replacement. RTU Pros aims to deliver high-quality service to property management companies and building owners, positioning itself as a leader in this niche.
In terms of competition, key players like Coolsys, CBRE, and Key Mechanical have been identified. These competitors often handle large service contracts but may compromise service quality. When they face rooftop unit replacements, they tend to inflate costs, which translates to extra charges for customers post-warranty.
RTU Pros distinguishes itself by offering a satisfaction guarantee, free estimates, and a commitment to meeting manufacturer standards during installations. The company emphasizes energy efficiency and collaborates with the Energy Trust of Oregon to promote high-performing HVAC equipment. Their focus on safe and efficient practices minimizes customer liability, further enhancing their competitive edge.

Business Plan
The business is being grown as a sales focused organization that also is a contractor. Meaning everything we do is based off of a 50, 30, 20 ratio. 50% gross margin on all jobs. 30% overhead including advertising. 20% net profit. The owner will be investing 10% of the net profit back into the company to continue growth. Within 3 to 5 years we plan on offering franchise opportunities outside of our existing service area which is Oregon. I have been in the HVAC industry for 23 years. Identifying a very needed niche contractor opportunity. This opportunity focuses on the rooftop unit, HVAC service and replacement industry. Many companies offer rooftop unit replacements, but do not do them often enough to be good at them, and safe and legal all at the same time. we will be providing a service for large property, management, companies and building owners to have their units replaced and serviced by the industry leader, RTU Pros!

Self Identified Competition
Our top three competitors are Coolsys, CBRE and key mechanical. These companies focus on having very large service contracts and barely meeting the service level agreements that they have committed to. When they run into a rooftop unit needing replacement, they throw a very large price at it to Cover all of their in efficiencies in rooftop unit replacements. They also do not have incentive to do a good job of installing rooftop units. Since they are on service contract with the customer, shortly after the one-year warranty expires, the service company will start charging to repair all of the things wrong with the installation . All at the customers expense. We are offering 100% satisfaction guarantee. We offer free estimates for all replacement installations and service quotes. We install every job to exacting standards of the manufacturer. Also offering upgrades if the customers choose to do so. Most service HVAC companies just change the unit out like for like continuing the lower efficiency and low performance standards. we partner with the energy trust of Oregon to offer the most efficient equipment out there, helping, save energy and operating costs for our customers. We have policies and procedures in place to do the most efficient safe installation. Not putting our customers liability at stake.
