Handcrafted by Holtzapfel OH4976529 | Government Grant Application

Handcrafted by Holtzapfel | Application Preview

Handcrafted by Holtzapfel is seeking government funding to support its plans for expanding operations in Lawrence County, Ohio. The proposed funding will be utilized to purchase land for growing peppers, establish a greenhouse, and set up a commercial kitchen for processing. The business aims to create jobs as it grows, contributing to the local economy.

The business plan includes cultivating several acres dedicated to pepper production and creating a facility for processing and selling products. Sales are expected through retail stores, online platforms, and participation in local festivals and craft fairs, with an intention to broaden the business's reach.

Approval for funding is justified based on the unique quality of the product, particularly their jalapeño pepper jellies, which have outperformed competitors' offerings. Customers consistently prefer these jellies over well-known brands, citing the distinctive sweet heat flavor that enhances a variety of dishes.

Handcrafted by Holtzapfel sets itself apart through organic farming practices, using natural fertilizers and methods to protect crops, while ensuring quality by producing small, homemade batches. This approach not only results in superior products but also showcases the owner's passion, transforming a hobby into a successful business.

  • Funding Usage

If funding is granted I would like to use the money to buy some acreage in the Lawrence County Ohio area for pepper growing plots, a greenhouse area and a processing/commercial kitchen as well as the hopes of employing a few people and adding as the business grows.

  • Business Plan

I have hopes of having a few acres of agricultural land to grow peppers, a production facility/commercial kitchen, with products being sold on store shelves, online sales as well as expansion into sales at larger and more festivals and craft fairs throughout our area and plans to expand our footprint. We provide an excellent product and with funding we could grow this business to provide employment to folks in our economically depressed region as well as bring funding into the local economy.

  • Self Identified Competition

We haven't found nor have any of our customers found anything that compares to our jalapeño pepper jellies. They have tried store brands, orders from Harry and David, and even southern cooking queen Paula Dean's pepper jellies and they say nothing compare or even comes close to our product that delivers a very nice sweet heat that can be used in various ways and incorporated into many different recipes to give it a unique and exotic kick in flavor. We grow our peppers in organic ways using natural fertilizers, weed reduction, and bug/critter protection. We make small home-made batches of our products ensuring quality in every jar that you won't find anywhere else. It's a prideful hobby that has surpassed my expectations beyond on belief.
