Curious Adornments Hand Embroidery | Application Preview
Curious Adornments Hand Embroidery is seeking government grants to support the maintenance and growth of the business. The funding will help enhance marketing efforts and strengthen their online presence, enabling participation in more online markets and covering material and shipping costs.
The business plan includes placing handmade pieces in local stores, becoming a regular presence at local markets, and building an online following through social media. The goal over the next five years is to become a recognized influencer in the embroidery niche while achieving equal online and in-person sales through targeted advertising.
The application emphasizes the applicant's drive and commitment to success. Since launching Curious Adornments, there has been a demand for custom pieces from individual customers and local businesses, including a gallery in the French Quarter. Additionally, the applicant has been approached for a feature in the magazine "Be Creative with Workbox," set to release on October 21, 2020. The business has gained momentum but requires financial support to navigate challenges posed by the pandemic.
In terms of competition, the applicant faces businesses like Tiny Cup, Crimson Pins, and Two Mushrooms. However, the unique selling point is the creation of one-of-a-kind embroideries that encompass a variety of themes, rather than mass-produced items. Each piece is crafted with care, accompanied by stories or historical references, distinguishing the work as original and diverse.

Business Plan
I would like for my handmade pieces to be in many local stores, to be a regular fixture at local markets, as well as build my online presence via social media. My goal in five years is to become an influencer within my medium. I would like to have regular advertisements circulating the feeds of carefully researched demographic and to have as many sales online as I have in person. You should invest in me because I am driven and determined to succeed in this business. Since beginning Curious Adornments, I have been sought after by many individual customers for custom pieces, as well as a local art gallery and oddities shop. Both located in the bustling French Quarter. I was also contacted by the well-known hand embroidery magazine, Be Creative with Workbox based in England, for a feature of my work that will be released on October 21, 2020. I have gained a lot of momentum and just need a bit of funding, due to the pandemic, to keep my business afloat. I am passionate about my craft and will exhaust all avenues in order to succeed.

Self Identified Competition
Tiny Cup Crimson Pins Two Mushrooms Despite being within the same medium, and having a similar aesthetic, my work stands out because it is unique. I do not create just one or two of the same themes, or mass-produce a design. My pieces are one of a kind embroideries that explore a variety of topics. Each piece is made with great care and attention. They are also accompanied by a story or historical references. I stand out among them as original and not one who produces similar themes throughout my work. I like to explore a wide range of topics and add a bit of storytelling to the mix.
