Roaddog Trucking | Application Preview
Roaddog Trucking is seeking government grants to acquire a semi truck and trailer, which would allow the company to break free from a restrictive contract that limits its growth potential. The funds will also be used to upgrade the office's computer and filing systems.
The business intends to use the new equipment to expand its client base, targeting local companies that are currently unable to hire them due to a no-competitor clause in their existing lease agreement. By increasing its workload and income, Roaddog Trucking aims to invest in additional equipment and hire more drivers, fostering further growth.
With deep roots in their small town and a strong work ethic, Roaddog Trucking believes they have a valuable relationship with local businesses that need shipping and hauling services. Their goal is to create a better life for their family and the community, especially for their five children.
In terms of competition, Roaddog Trucking identifies GOKO Trucking, Gibco Trucking, and Beelman Trucking as their main rivals. However, by obtaining their own equipment, they would have the flexibility to collaborate with these companies instead of solely competing against them.
The company's competitive advantage lies in the ability to select their hauling jobs and partners, which would not only enhance their services but also contribute to job creation in a community hit hard by economic challenges since the pandemic. Overall, Roaddog Trucking is highly motivated to grow and support their local economy.

Funding Usage
We would use the funds to purchase and license a semi truck and trailer so we could get away from the contract that keeps us from expanding our client base and our company. It would also be used to update our computer and filing system for the office.

Business Plan
We plan to purchase our own truck and trailer so we can open up our client base to include other companies in the area that are excluded by the no-competitor clause in our contract with the company we are leasing a truck from. Then after expanding our client base and increasing our income and workload we hope to purchase more equipment and hire more drivers so we can continue to expand. We are a family based company from a small town with good work ethic and a good working relationship with many companies in the area that would use us for shipping/hauling their products if we had the freedom to choose who we are transporting for. We are very driven to expand our company so we can make a better life for ourselves and our 5 children.

Self Identified Competition
Currently the top 3 competitors would be GOKO Trucking, Gibco Trucking and Beelman Trucking. If I were to obtain my own equipment I could actually work with all 3 competitors and expand my work base. If I obtain my own equipment I would be better able to choose what I hauled and who I work with. I would be able to work alongside most of the other small trucking companies instead of competing with them therefore expanding my base further. I am highly motivated to expand my company and hire more drivers to help bring more jobs to the local area which has been hit pretty hard economically since the start of the pandemic.
