JSPowers Photography 0203638 | Government Grant Application

JSPowers Photography | Application Preview

JSPowers Photography is seeking government grants to support its small business goals. The funds will be dedicated to startup expenses, including equipment upgrades like iMacs, office supplies, marketing efforts, and travel costs for international projects. The intention is to build a sustainable business that not only provides photography services but also gives back to the community through pro bono events and outreach.

To grow the business, JSPowers plans to leverage social media platforms and collaborate with local businesses to enhance their marketing efforts. The applicant is actively pursuing Professional Photographers of America (PPA) certification to reassure clients of their competence. Membership in local Chambers of Commerce is also targeted to foster connections within the community. Ensuring customer satisfaction is a priority, with every photo being meticulously selected and edited to meet high standards.

The application highlights an unmet need for diverse photography services in the local area, which is currently dominated by wedding photography. JSPowers aims to fill this gap by offering sports and business photography, positioning itself as a unique and compassionate alternative in a competitive market.

In terms of competition, JSPowers acknowledges local photographers who excel in wedding and landscape photography but believes its approach focuses more on community service and respect for clients. The business philosophy emphasizes integrity and fairness, ensuring that everyone feels valued and represented. The grant funding is seen as a crucial step toward establishing a successful and impactful photography business in the area.

  • Funding Usage

If I am selected as a small business to use these funds, I will use it to not only give back to my community through community service or pro bono events. I will also make sure that it is distributed into my business bank account and it will be used solely for startup expenses. These could include new computers such as iMacs, Desk and Office equipment, office supplies, marketing, advertising, partnership building, community outreach, camera equipment and travel expenses for international projects should my clients request it and cannot afford to cover the travel expenses. It would be used as a safety net to get my business growing, get my name out there and start making a real impact in my community by serving those who may need photography works that are not commonly offered in my area. I work part time, so my income has been stretched very, very thin with my mortgage and vehicle payments. I could really use the help so it would be possible to work for myself and step out of my current role.

  • Business Plan

It is my plan to grow the business utilizing social media platforms such as snapchat, instagram, TikTok, Facebook and interacting with local business partners to interact with guests at their events. I am seeking work actively in this profession and am also seeking PPA certification to instill confidence in my customers. To boot, I plan on becoming a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, as well as two other Chambers within my local area. I have already started reaching out to local businesses asking if they would require photographic services for their professional marketing and advertising leads. I am also attempting to coordinate with local event vendors to become one as part of the action so that folks can enjoy the entertainment and I can focus on photography. I want to instill confidence in my brand, confidence in my capability to deliver a carefully crafted product that I put my whole heart and effort into. Each picture is hand selected, edited and carefully crafted to my precise specifications and I ensure complete and total client satisfaction before any payment is discussed. I want people to feel like they are doing business with someone who has integrity - truth and honesty are core values. I chose to get into this business because the only thing my local area offers is wedding photography. People have told me time and time again, they wish there was a local sports photographer, I wish there was a local business photographer. There is a big gap missing in this area and if I can capitalize on this area of weakness, it will result in success. I bring not just a different approach to a very competitive market, I bring with it a genuine kindness, desire to help and be fair with my customers in pricing - regardless of the markets situation.

  • Self Identified Competition

Hunter Kitrell Photography - Hunter is an incredibly gifted and talented individual, he is kind, courteous and loves going on adventures with his clients for photoshoots. I have attempted to apply to work for him before the decision was made to go into business for myself. He is very savvy, knows his way around a camera and focuses on natural lighting/backgrounds to bring his pictures to life. Envision Photography by April Booher - April is incredibly kind, she is flexible and is willing to work with her clients in every way. Even though she focuses primarily on wedding photography, there are sessions where she also steps into my territory, this would be landscape photography as well. She is very talented and has the funding necessary to purchase all the equipment needed to deliver results. I like to look at my business as serving my local community, rather than my community serving my local business. Everyone has a voice, everyone matters and deserves to be heard and equally represented - this is a philosophy I live to my core. I have spent the last 8 years of my life in the service of others. While it has been very rewarding, it has also taught me many valuable lessons. In particular, how to treat other people with respect. We all work hard for our money, we deserve to have someone who is going to respect our time, effort, and hard work we put into making it.
