Esoteric Aesthetics | Application Preview
Esoteric Aesthetics is seeking government grants to expand its operations by purchasing additional storage and lighting for a mother plant nursery. This nursery will enable the business to produce a continuous supply of cuttings from rare and desirable plants, which can be sold for significant profits. The owner notes that it takes about six cuttings to start generating profit, and the revenue will be consistent due to the ongoing growth of the mother plants.
The business plan focuses on investing in rare collector plants to increase availability and attract a steady clientele, especially capitalizing on the heightened interest in houseplants following Covid lockdowns. The owner is implementing a social media marketing campaign and plans to create a community forum to engage customers and facilitate viral marketing.
The application emphasizes the owner's expertise in the plant industry, noting that the inventory appreciates significantly, allowing for high profit markups. The unique selling point of the business lies in the aesthetic presentation of the plants, which are paired with handcrafted planters and natural elements, setting them apart from standard plant retailers.
In terms of competition, the owner believes there are no significant rivals due to the upscale nature of their product offerings. The combination of rare species sourcing and a keen eye for design creates a distinctive market position that is difficult for others to replicate.

Funding Usage
I intend to purchase and set up further storage and lighting, so that I may add a mother plant nursery to my current facilities. Certain varieties of rare plants are both expensive and desirable. This, coupled with their high propensity for propagation, will allow me to produce a near-infinite stream of cuttings, which can be sold for a sizable amount. It takes about 6 cuttings on average to start producing profit. These will be available immediately upon receipt of the mother plant, at which point it will continue growing, resulting in a constant stream of income and desirable inventory.

Business Plan
By continuing to invest in rare and desirable collector’s plants, I will be able to supply larger quantities of plants to more people. This, in conjunction with the current booming plant industry set off by Covid lockdowns, will all but guarantee a steady stream of regular customers and new clientele. In addition, I am currently working on the launch of a social media marketing campaign, culminating in the creation of a community forum. This forum will attract clientele, due to the interactive and informative nature of the media, as well as provide a platform for surreptitious image-based viral advertising. I have purposefully chosen an industry in which I am vastly knowledgeable and capable. This being the case, my inventory constantly appreciates in value, to the point where I can easily command 1000% markups on my initial investment. I use my artistic design abilities to combine less-valuable items into aesthetically pleasing arrangements, to push my profit margin past even the high numbers mentioned above. I have already had great success in sourcing rare stock from out of state and immediately reselling for high profits. At this point, I need to upgrade my inventory and streamline my propagation process just to keep up with demand.

Self Identified Competition
I do not have any real competitors. Of course, there are other plant retailers in Oklahoma City, but the difference in what we are providing is vast. Anyone can sell plants in cheap black plastic pots. I lovingly pair them with handcrafted geometric stoneware planters and polished crystal and gemstones, so they are healthy and ready to be placed as interior accents. My curated living arrangements are a cut above the mass-produced plastic baskets offered by most other retailers. I am also on a constant search for rare and desirable species, leveraging my ability to make a deal in order to cut product costs. In a word, my operation is simply too upscale to have any real competition at this current time.
