Let It Bee, An Artist 11500622 | Government Grant Application

Let It Bee, An Artist | Application Preview

Let It Bee, An Artist, is seeking a government grant to cover start-up costs, including renovations and signage, as well as to address any financial shortfalls during its first year of operation. The business aims to broaden its artist community and expand the range of classes offered.

The primary justification for the funding is to establish a creative space where individuals can learn crafts and explore their artistic potential without the burden of investing in expensive equipment. Additionally, the shop will serve as a venue for artists to exhibit and sell their work, moving away from the temporary setups often seen at local events, which can be affected by unpredictable weather.

In terms of competition, there are no similar establishments within a 75-mile radius of Purcellville, VA, giving Let It Bee a significant advantage. While many existing shops take a commission of 35-40% from artists' sales, Let It Bee offers a unique rental model. Artists can rent dedicated space for $150 per month, allowing them to retain 100% of their sales revenue, minus credit card fees. This model not only promotes individual artists but also enhances customer recognition. The shop will handle sales tax and provide marketing support as well.

Furthermore, Let It Bee plans to include a classroom for various art classes and will offer customers the option to use studio equipment and supplies for their projects, making it a one-stop destination for both selling and creating art. This dual focus on sales and creativity sets Let It Bee apart from existing options in the area.

Also a place for fellow artist's to display and sell their work in a brick and mortar store as opposed to setting up and tearing down at local venues for a total of 8 hours of sale time. Not to mention they have paid for an outdoor event and the weather is rainy, or cold/hot.

  • Self Identified Competition

There are currently no shops like this in a 75 miles radius of Purcellville, VA Most shop available to artist's to sell only offer space on a commission basis which currently is from 35 - 40% and your items are mixed in with others. We offer rental of a space (i.e. a 3' space rental for $150.00 per month) for individual artist's items only. This way customers know who the artist is. For this rental fee the artist receives 100% of his/her sales less credit card fees. The items are sold under the shop name, so we collect and file sales tax. We also provide advertising and marketing. We will also have a classroom to conduct various medium art classes.
