Chesterton Montessori School 83-3927475 | Government Grant Application

Chesterton Montessori School | Application Preview

Chesterton Montessori School is applying for government funding to support its expansion into Valparaiso, where there is a significant demand for educational services. With enrollment maxed out at 116 children, the school aims to accommodate up to 250 children in the new location, which will include two buildings and an outdoor space that is three to four times larger than the current one.

The requested funding will primarily be allocated towards creating an outdoor environment for children, which includes building two new playgrounds, establishing a garden, and installing a safety fence. This funding will cover the cost of playground equipment, gardening supplies, site preparation, fence construction, and related architectural fees.

For nearly four decades, the school has built a stellar reputation in the community, experiencing substantial growth despite the challenges of the pandemic, evident from a long waitlist for enrollment. The school's commitment to high-quality Montessori education is reflected in its qualified staff, all of whom are certified by the Seton Montessori Institute, and in its emphasis on continuous professional development.

Chesterton Montessori School stands out from local competition, such as Valparaiso Montessori Academy, through its unwavering dedication to educational quality, ongoing teacher training, and fostering parent involvement. The school actively engages with the community by volunteering and donating supplies to local organizations, reinforcing its commitment to providing exceptional educational services.

  • Funding Usage

Our Montessori School has maxed out its capacity and there is a big demand for education in the Northwest Indiana area. We are expanding into the neighboring town, Valparaiso, and we need funding to provide the facilities and materials necessary for our children. The funding requested will be mostly dedicated to the creation of an outside space for our children. We will be building two new playgrounds, a garden area, and fence it all in. The funding is necessary for the playsets (one for toddlers and one for early childhood), the gardening supplies and boxes plus the prepping of the space, the construction of the privacy fence to ensure the safety of our children, and the site review and architect fees for the outside space. In Montessori we firmly believe that children are happier when interacting with nature, and learning is more successful when they can work hands on with the environment that surrounds them

  • Business Plan

Chesterton Montessori School (CMS) has just busted at the seams , especially after the pandemic. CMS did an outstanding job managing the health crisis and now we have an extense waitlist. Out new school in Valparaiso will consist on two buildings, as opposed to one in our current location, and will have an outside space that is 3 to 4 times the size of our current one. We currently have 116 children enrolled in our school, and we are at capacity. In the second location, we plan to accommodate a total of 250 children. This school has been in business for 38 years. I bought the school almost 5 years ago and in this time, we have grown the business over 25%, we have moved locations to a bigger building, and we have maxed our enrollment. We have a GREAT reputation, our worth of mouth keeps families knowing on our doors. We have the experience of moving to a new building, renovating it entirely, creating the internal documents, implementing new softwares, etc. We have done this process once already, we have the experience and the contacts to open our new location in a timely manner. We believe the Montessori education is highly beneficial for our community. We interact with the city, we volunteer at local libraries and other organizations, we donate supplies to animal hospitals and similar activities. We take our reputation and the quality of our education very seriously, and we are highly motivated to continue to offer this service to our community.

  • Self Identified Competition

Valparaiso Montessori Academy Our school is never willing to compromise the quality of our education. To keep up with the right standards, our teachers are all hand-on certified by Seton Montessori Institute, no exceptions, which is not the case for other local Montessori schools. This certification is a 3 year long program, and provides the right tools to our staff to be able to successfully teach our children. Teacher training does not only end there. Our staff is required to participate in in-service days, observations of other schools, and other seminars to further their education. We also encourage parent participation, which is not the case for our competitors. From coming to observe their children, to bake with them, help build furniture, spread mulch in the playground, forming a Parent Association Committee, we push for our parents to be part of our community. CMS is a family, and we help and support each other.
