The funds received would be used to support my staff financially. Many people believe veterinary medicine to be an easy non-stressful work environment, but it is the opposite. The veterinary field as a whole is underpaid, under appreciated, overworked, and drained mentally, physically, and emotionally. These detrimental factors have led this field to become one of the careers with the lowest state of mental health. I would like to provide a healthy work place environment that allows me to provide my staff with financial stability and opportunities to receive health insurance and 401k benefits. Using the grant to financially support my veterinary team will positively impact LivWell Pet Care long term. By offering competitive compensation with a benefits package, my staff will have the opportunity to excel in their personal lives. Financial and health burdens will be reduced and or relieved to allow them time to participate in hobbies or lifestyles that will add to their personal happiness and over all mental health. A fulfilling personal life will increase work place engagement, work ethic, career longevity, eliminate burnout, and reduce turnover.

I am excited to see my startup business’s progress in the next five years. By that time my staff and I will have established an efficient routine. This routine will have allowed my team to grow in number and skill to provide quality care to my expanding number of patients and clientele. I expect my team and I to have implemented new ideas and programs to accelerate business growth without hindering pet care. Over the next five years our focus will be on providing quality care to our patients, expand the number of patients and clientele and to start looking into other options for expansion such as opening up a second location. I know I was told to put a specific amount of what I need at the beginning of this application. I choose $500,000, but really any support will help. During the pandemic I have witnessed the negative impact on animal health care from rising medical costs, housing, and inflation. I think a lot of people realized the importance of vet care during that time as well. Since then there has been an extreme shortage of veterinarians and quality of care has begun to slack due to burnout. This has led to many doctors and nurses leaving the veterinary field as whole. These experiences helped me understand the demand for affordable pet care and services. Becoming a small business owner and opening LivWell Pet Care will help me accomplish my dream of providing quality care to as many pets as possible and meet this critical demand. With our services, pet parents will be able to stay current with their pets’ health, increasing the chance of detecting diseases early and providing treatment at a reasonable cost. Self Identified Competition
I generally don't see other veterinarians as competitors. Most of us have a common goal of providing the best care to our patients and reducing pet homelessness while advocating for the animals who have no voice. If I had to choose competitors it would be corporate companies in the area such as Thrive, Royal Pets and Banfield Pet Hospital. One of the main focuses of LivWell Pet Care is the fact that we are continuing to provide affordable pet care during a time when prices are on the rise. I have witnessed the negative impact on animal health care from rising medical costs, housing, and inflation. These experiences helped me understand the demand for affordable pet care and services. By providing affordable pet care it allows clients to better manage their pets health rather than neglect it.
